I'd prefer an updated Skystriker too.
Especially as I have the original. It also doesn't help that the F-14 was designed in the 1960s. A more proportional F22 or a YF-23 would be most welcomed. Even an F-35 would be cool, but that should be around the size of a Conquest. If the do re-tool the Night Raven, I hope the sell the Strato-Vipers seperately as well. It was a pain getting 3 to crew my Night Raven. |

Since we're talking about dream vehicle scenarios and new generation aircraft; I'd love to see an Su-35 or 37 Flanker in Cobra Deco. (Ideally a PAK-FA, but that's still a concept plane).
Even though I dislike the F-35 for a variety of reasons, it would be a feasible model for Hasbro to give to the Joes. Good call. The Rattler "works" because its a niche role. Not only does it borrow from the A-10 Warthog which is still widely in use and does its job very well, but it has V-tol. Very believable craft for Cobra to employ. |

A great plane for its time and a very cool toy. But there's no way GI Joe would be using tech so far behind the curve in 2008/2009.
Same argument with the E-wing, sure its the modern successor to the X-wing but the X-wing is a classic. The Skystriker is gijoe's x-wing. There is room for both the new YF-23 Skystriker and the F-14 Skystriker. The new one can fit in the resolute and movie lines, and the F-14 one does well in the classic line. Best of both worlds. |

^ Agreed. To me, Cobra is primarily a land force due to budgetary concerns. Most everything in the arsenal operates on an infantry support mission. In my world, they have some air to air fighters, but they are a smaller force and they try and protect that investment.

As I too would love to see a Sky Striker, Hasbro's got to play it safe. Do you know how many millions the movie has to make before they even consider larger vehicles. Not only that but the movie toyline has to fly off the shelves with constant reorders for retailers to except the idea of a large G.I.Joe vehicles. This isn't Star Wars and it's not 1985, times have changed. If Hasbro releases a larger vehicle like the SkyStriker and the price point was over $50.00, would you by it, would you buy more than one? We live in a country where everything is about $$$. Say it does come out, sales are no where near to break even after spent money on a new mold. Hasbro chiefs: "That was a risky move, and look where we are now. No more large vehicles." Then all of us including myself would be pissed because we won't get any other larger vehicles. The U.S.S. Flagg is another want wish list. At SDCC this was brought up and the Hasbro guys asked "how many would pay $500.00+ for it". I didn't see to many hands go up. Remember this is 2008, gas does cost <$1.00. Honestly I rather keep the figures and small vehicles coming and not have the line killed due to our own faults. Hasbro does listen but they also got to keep the stock holders happy. That's just the way it is. Sorry to burst people's dreams but we have to accept the facts and Thank Hasbro for what they've done instead gimme, gimme, gimme ah #+&! Hasbro does care about us.
"hasbro does listen"???? then why so many figures lookn like ass and comming with nothing or recycled shit, i mean c'mon they arent hurtn for scratch and we will buy them, so make em right maybe thatd show they listen....cough, serpentor, cough cough, televiper gear |

They reuse parts because there isn't a fan following in the 4-14 year old market like there was in the 80's and 90's. This can be attributable to not having a show to follow... hi2u Hasbro get on that.
Regardless, when adult collectors (and a handful of youngsters) are supporting a toy line, there's going to be concessions made in quality and mold reuses. But this is just rehashed verbage that everyone already understands, so enough of that tangent. Hasbro is doing a great job giving us what we want with their budget in this line. Perhaps after the movie we'll see better quality/more unique figures and large playsets. |

I'm in the same vein of thought here. Which is why I'd love for Hasbro to give us some SA missile batteries for Cobra to set up and abuse. Significantly far better cost:loss ratio for a team like Cobra to use. Unless the Commander teamed with Russia and or China, spending billions of dollars on fighters and bombers that would be shot down seconds after entering US airspace is unlikely. Which again, is why the Rattler (and even the Night Raven for Recon) work so well in the 'Joeverse'. All of that said, I do see the desire for the original Skystriker re-release (hell I loved it myself as a kid) but I won't be disappointed if we don't see it. And if we do, I sincerely hope Hasbro eliminates the forward wing sweep + landing gear drop issue. I sawed the wheels off when I was 5 so the Striker could dogfight. |

And since I feel like I ranted off subject quite a bit, bring on an updated IMP, Locust, and Mobile Battle Bunker.

With the F-22s ability to engage enemy targets beyond the curvature of the earth, there is no way for any countries fighters, let alone Cobra fighters to even get close enough to count in a fight.
The F-22 can engage 100+ targets and destroy as many as it has ammunition for. Going against F-15s and F-18s, the equivalents to any foreign fighter, the F-22 has never lost. Most of the time the planes playing hostiles don't even know when the f-22 has shown up in the engagement zone until one of them is "destroyed." The skies belong to American and allied air power. In real life that is a good thing. In toy world that leaves little reason for Cobra to field an air force. As i mentioned, Cobra would have a small force of MIG-29s (cause they look cool for me and they are the most modern) for air patrol around their borders, and intercept roles. They would be very protective of them. I see the firebat being a quick interceptor of American aircraft. An engine strapped to a wing and a stick with missiles all over it. They would be cheap fighters to intercept any incoming threats at a lower cost than a MIG-29.
