While I still love the concept, wasn't too enamored with the first iteration of this team upon subsequent reviews.
so, I decided to revisit these guys, make them a little more functional, and pull heavier influence from lesser known pre-existing versions of the characters. Rock N Roll (inspired by v3) Torpedo (inspired by Chief Torpedo v2) Wet-Suit (inspired by v3) Hang Loose v2 (inspired by Footloose v3 & Hang Loose v1) Group Shot:

I love this set! I went back & looked at your 2020 versions and as nice as those were, these updated versions are new & improved! They look retail ready! RnR looks even more massive, Torpedo is my favorite, really love that one ...just awesome! Wet-Suit ver. 3 is one I still would like to make some day so it's great to see how you built yours, & Hang-Loose is a real cool concept! Winning bunch, so rare to see someone update an entire crew like this, super tight paints, and I really dig the Surf (Tac Team)!!!!

I love these axe. Torpedo in particular is very well done. Hangloose kind looks like Richard Brake. Your v3 wetsuit really pays good homage to the og version and the whole team shot is just great.

The original drop of this team is still one of my favorite concepts that you came up with. I loved the idea of a surf based 90?s Joe sub team and since I didn?t have a Torpedo as a kid and skipped the giraffe pants Footloose....I would have been all about this group because I already loved 90?s Wet Suit & Rock N Roll.
Cool idea to tweak your formulas by using some of the already existing 90?s designs, gives you a nice way to group these in your display. The V3 being my favorite version of Rock n Roll, you know I?m gonna love the lime green and orange base colors! Then it?s always fun to see Rock n Roll with the longer hair and as always, you dropped a super clean paint job on us. You?re so good with making the bright colors pop with clean lines. I always forget about this version of Torpedo, probably his most fun look. You absolutely crushed it with his build! Then I?m loving this paint job, between the colors used and then the camo on the pants, so awesome! Loaded him up with some cool accessories too. Wet Suit was my favorite from the first group, Torpedo is grabbing the top spot in the new batch. The 90?s sculpt for Wet Suit is my favorite version of that character as well. Other than troop builders, I usually skipped one of the 90?s / Battle Corps repaints because there wasn?t much different about them but Wet Suit was one that I had both the yellow & orange because it was such a badass figure. Love that you brought that to your modern builds. Such a cool version of the character, then the head that you picked nicely resembles the original o ring head and the build / paint job....top notch! The yellow pops so well and you have him in some awesome poses! Then closing things up with the original Akaw brother....Hangloose / Footloose looks fantastic! Another great tweak to the homage version. Just a great look for Footloose and that?s another awesome head choice. Then loving the wrist wraps and the camo pants. Again, super fun group, loving that we saw two versions of them now, sort of a 90?s style original release and their Battlecorps rerelease for us kids who maybe missed them the first time. Would love to see you expand this into some Cobras for them to fight down the road.

These are cool man. I still remember your original footloose that inspired this concept. I also can appreciate the homage to the old figures like sonic fighters rock n roll (and all the rest of em). And then Hangloose, he?s just a cool all around good looking army/ Joe figure who could work outside this concept as well. Keep up the cool work man.

Great set.
Sometimes I'll see a color/part combination that clicks with that special something something. I have no idea why, but here it's the yellow/black thigh holster on Wetsuit. It looks perfect. Maybe because you have some special ability to paint yellow without it looking like butter? The details retained their crispness! How'd you pull that off? |

Then Hang Loose is just an incredible concept and execution. The parts used are spot on! What head is that if I may ask? Both Torpedo and RnR are such fun recreations. Crisp paint apps on those excellently chosen parts! Excellent work!! |
