Hey Tank,
I thought it would be cool to have a thread where customizers can pal around, talk shop, exchange ideas, discuss customizing philosophies, and otherwise just shoot the breeze with a focus on custom work. Hit N Run (Orzo) and myself were talking a bit about how we integrate things like Marauders and Boss Fight into our Joe collections, they that's seems like a good jumping off point as any. I know there's guys who have forsaken Hasbro in favor of MTF, and then there's guy like me that, even though I love MTF, it's just not the same as Hasbro. Anyway, jump in.

These are my customizing philosophies:
I like to use Hasbro ME body parts as much as possible. I try to avoid 25th/ROC parts as much as possible. I have used that ROC Pit trooper for my Falcon, and Mishka, but that's it. Its POC or later parts for me all the way. I try to avoid painting across joints as much as possible. I will use MTF parts as needed, especially the heads, weapons and suit bodies. I only have 3 customs that use all MTF parts, mainly due to my fear of painting camo, and white decos. (Wetsuit, OG tank driver, and Baron Iron blood). I like to complete some of the factions that the club started but never completed. I have completed the OG, Action Force, and Red Shadows. I guess I should try the Plague team as we are getting more black parts.

I think anyone who pops into my thread from time to time know that my go-to and what I used to really learn how to customize and improve my skills are Marauder parts. I like that they are easy to get, take paint well, affordable and they are just great builds. Recently been dabbling in more Boss Fight parts and that’s been a fun change up. Also planning on using the Eagle Force stuff when that comes out.
I enjoy doing the same, 46zone, finished off a few of the Hasbro / Club started groups. My end goal is to have the original ARAH run in modern form. Save for some of the extra repaints in the later years of the line. And while I’ve gotten used to painting with yellows, I still hate working with joints! Haha.

Congrats, buddy!

Kuh Rupht’s mummy is epic! Great job bringing the Bronze home to Hisstank, I was pulling for you and placing was well deserved! That setup you put together was more art piece than action figure!

This is a fantastic idea for a thread.
Talking to other customizers is a key way I improved my skills so I’m really excited for this. I think I’m mostly known for my marauder builds but they make it so damn easy to work with. Great products, designed for customizing, and their custom service is the best around. I do like working with many other lines with the exception of hasbro joe hands. Quote:

Thanks guys!!! Glad I could bring some hardware back to the tank.

I do have an ocd issue which led me to continue building marauder customs. But I do mix my displayed collection. I use hasbro for the larger builds or to give size variance, most of my Dreadnoks are boss fight studios, and I have a few that use marvel.
Not sure if one is more superior but what’s everyone favorite brush and why? This could be one specific brush or multiple brushes that do certain jobs. I will look at the brands of mine in the morning and add my input too.

I love Marauder figures, but I have a hard time "committing" with MGR figures, preferring to take them apart and just do parts swaps, so I have yet to actually paint any MGR figures.
I am currently toying around with doing a diesel punk/WWI-II/adventure themed group, using CFT MGR WWII and random bits. As far as brushes, I bought a couple sets of three at 5 below that were decent quality. Some company from England, I would know the name if I saw it. I have yet to find a brush "small enough" for certain things like eyes. So I started using graphic art markers for eyes. |
