Honestly, it's all I wanted. Expansion and clarification, not a completely rewritten ending.
I would rather see Shepherd die then them pull another "Bioware Special" - 'with the great threat finally defeated, our intrepid hero simply said "You know what? I think I'm gonna walk toward that mountain." and as he walked toward the mountain, he simply vanished(never, ever to be heard from again) and became legend.' Out the BW games I've played and completed(excluding ME), they all have ended the exact same way - only difference is they gave you an epilogue of some kind. None of the Baldur's Gate games ended that way (at least not in most endings). Knights of the Old Republic didn't end that way. Jade Empire didn't end that way (at least not in most endings) Neither Dragon Age ended that way. Did Neverwinter Nights end that way? It's been so long since I've seen the ending that I can't recall. Either way, the majority of Bioware's games do not end in any way how you're describing. But you know what a whole lot of them did do? They told you what happened to the characters afterwards. Sometimes they got happy ending, sometimes characters came to a tragic end, but we at least got some kind of denouement for the characters we'd spent so much time with. Jmacq, it was meant sarcastically. I know they tell you what happened afterwards hence the comment about an epilogue.
I never bothered to complete either Baldur's Gate, Jade Empire or Neverwinter Nights. I have however completed Kotor, DAO,DAA,DAII,ME1,ME2,ME3. My 360 gamertag is DoGoD and my BSN name is dogod08, if you'd care to confirm the ones you can. I stand by my point. Where is Revan? The Warden(if still alive)?Hawke? Eventually explained to have just gone someplace and vanished, whether it was done at the end of one game or the beginning of another makes no difference to me. Bioware appears to have difficulty keeping their heroes around, without making them mysteriously vanish somehow. I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that the yet unnamed hero/heroine in DAIII won't stick around past his own game and his/her end will be mysterious and basically unexplained in any game.

Well, to be fair, in KOTOR you got the star wars ceremony ending or the Sith rises ending.
In DA:O you get the crowining or the funeral with lots of info on your NPC futures. IN DA2 Varric tells a bunch of what happened in dialogue... I'm drawing a blank on jade empire's ending...i haven't played it in about 6 years....360 really needs to work on the xbox 1 game porting problems and the crashes it causes...yikes. They also quite supporting my KOTOR DLC which is bullshit....

I joked about the "vanishing" thing, because it seems to be something that happens in Bioware games, especially if they get a sequel(not a continuation) that I happen to find funny. No more, no less. At least in the DA series you get to go away with your LI - until they show up in the next game without you.
Up until ME3's ending, I was content with every ending sequence from Bioware that I've seen even including the whole 'just vanishes' retcons or whatever you want to call them. The epilogues were more than satisfactory, it was clear the my character's adventure was over in one way or another. What real difference did it make if the PC vanished or not? We saw how things changed in the end and we knew that we wouldn't have another adventure with that character. We could imagine whatever life we wanted afterwards, until part II when we find out the PC from the previous title was just 'gone' leaving everything they cared about behind seemingly forever. It's an over-simplification but, it's amusing to me that they did it a couple times - even if Obsidian started it.

If you can make it through this text wall--this is one of the better explanations for mE3 failings I've read. That said--I think this is also why it is honestly--un-fixable....
Choose Language | BioWare Social Network OP statement is so long it won't fit in one thread here..hahah.
