Jmacq, it was meant sarcastically. I know they tell you what happened afterwards hence the comment about an epilogue.
I stand by my point. Where is Revan? The Warden(if still alive)?Hawke? Eventually explained to have just gone someplace and vanished, whether it was done at the end of one game or the beginning of another makes no difference to me. Bioware appears to have difficulty keeping their heroes around, without making them mysteriously vanish somehow. I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that the yet unnamed hero/heroine in DAIII won't stick around past his own game and his/her end will be mysterious and basically unexplained in any game. So basically, shuffling off the old hero makes room for the new. |

Getting a new hero in each game is a matter of pragmatism, as a continuation with the same character at the same level is more an "expansion" than a "sequel." Sequels generally feel the need to start you back at square one, and I'd sure as hell rather have a new hero than get some cheap and contrived explanation as to why your formerly-uber character is suddenly back to level 1/no equipment again. They managed to make it work in Mass Effect 2...barely. Mass Effect 3 let you keep your levels but I still thought it was phenomenally contrived that you had to buy your weapons and armor all over again.
So basically, shuffling off the old hero makes room for the new.

Meh, Bethesda makes very pretty games with very expansive environments, but I've always found Bethesda's stories and characters to be unbelievably lacking compared to Bioware. That isn't to say that Bethesda's games are bad...they're not. I just never feel the same kind of attachment to the games that Bioware fosters.

I was referring to how the handle the hero/heroine of their previous games.
That said, I agree. Bethesda is more about doing what you want, where, when and mostly how you want to do it. It's very hard to get attached to a world when you barely get to know anyone in it. Back on the topic of ME3; anyone get a bug where they told the two arguing C-Sec officers to ignore the smaller crimes but the War Terminal shows the opposite? And, another one; Gabby & Ken telling the story of Kelly's death when she's still standing on the Citadel long after the attempted coup.

nice that we got new items but it stinks that we have to keep using xp through the packs to unlock them. anyone get any of new characters or weapons yet?

Whoever came up with the idea of putting the MP unlockables in card packs deserves a medal - shaped like a bullseye so they can be shot through it.
I just want those weapons in SP and a new N7 mission to go with the new map.

And I do agree on the Mission part. I like the idea of Shepard going in first to clear out the bases before N7 Ops moves in to secure it. Gives it a stronger story aspect, which I like in my multiplayer. Almost as much as when your SP and MP progress carry over (RSV spoiled me...) to either/or.

I haven't really done anything in MP except open the commendation packs, I'd love to trade away these sniper rifles that I'll never use for something that I would. All I want is the Krogan soldier and the Geth Pulse rifle - how much time/money would it take me to get that?
I've seen threads about people spend millions of credits and not getting anything new - just stuff they've already got. People holding onto respec cards they have no intention of using just because it opens up a spot for another rare. I know they're pushing MP but forcing players to grind only to reward them with a pack full of doubles isn't going to encourage players to stick around long. Cards wouldn't be as much of a problem if we could trade them, like I give you a Widow for one of your character cards or a different weapon.

Exactly on that last one. We're dealing with "Cards" after all- they can really make this work by introducing a Pokemon-style TCG system so players can trade upgrade cards around. Of course it's pretty easy to break an economy like that...
Or they could replace the packs with a "shop" like I mentioned before in the format of the Normandy's Requisition Terminal. Unlike Mordin, I don't mind having to "buy my own weapons", as long as it means I don't have to look at another goddamn M-4 Shuriken. And as far as the Krogan and GPR go... well, I've bought about 25 packs all together, and I only recently got a Quarian Infiltrator, if that tells you anything.
