O.K. guys, I am a huge DBZ fan. Its up there with G.I.Joe, Transformers, Robotech and MOTU. Here is my question: Is there or was there a GREAT DBZ action figure line? I want to start collecting DBZ, but I have few guidelines:
1. I want good representations of EVERY single character, even the minor ones. 2. a decent amount of detail and articulation, and good sculpts. 3. I want them all in the same scale and preferably, by the same company, for the sake of consistency. Is there such a line? I realize that I'll have to hunt them down through eBay and obscure online retailers, but I'm down for it. Any suggestions? |

Never bought one though because I was almost in debt from 25th Joes. I wish I could find pics, but there's so much crap out there it's overloading my searches. |

As a huge DBZ fan too, i never found any good figs.
Most are like sculpts with minor articulation (swivel shoulders and sometimes feet, that's all). Sculpt is usually very cool and accurate, but they lack any posing, most i've seen they're just standing there. Most common of them have roughly a Joe size, while some are bigger and better articulation but there are only a limited selection of characters. Never checked for Microman DBZ figures tho. I think the most common are from BanDai. Here's a link with some examples: DRAGONBALL Z KAI TOYS at ToyWiz.com - Buy Dragonball Z, Dragonball Kai, Dragonball GT, Dragon Ball & DBZ Action Figures & Toys On Sale The coolest i knew are the ones from the movie...

Okay, I found the specific name of them. The line was called "Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Collection". They were about 4", came with dragon bits, and are going for anywhere from $3 to $20 a pop on Ebay.
None of the pics are good enough to give a good idea of full articulation, but I'm definitely seeing knee joints and thigh-cuts. Hope this helps. Good hunting. |

I don't think those were the ones I saw. Hip joint is different, and the ones I saw didn't have double joint in the arm.
Seriously, this is why even I have trouble searching this shite. There are like a billion different lines with a lot having very similar names. Those did look pretty good though. |

That without counting mockups. Those from the vid seem to have at least a good articulation. Maybe Revoltech has some, but i know very little about them. I just bought the other day a couple keyrings, which ae actually DBZ figs with a little chain stuck in the head. For just 0.50 cents, it's good fodder (pretty good copies, actually)

I have all the DBZ Ultimate figs. They came out with 3 Gokus, 2 Vegetas, adult Gohan, and Gogeta in 2 modes. Some of the Super Sayien figs have yellow hair and some gold. They also made them in black & white. Got them back in early 05 at Walmart. Also got final version Freiza and Piccolo. They were hard to find and only places like Walgreens seemed to have them. There is a line in Japan that I've seen that is larger in scale but has more characters and even better articulation. Check Ebay for those.

M_Ren, Zef, Dreadnok, you guys are awesome. It seems that it is as I feared, there are several lines that have either a great selection, good articulation or are scale, but not all three. LOL, I am going to follow those links you guys provided and do more research.
Thanks for the help guys! |

I used to have some of the older Bandai and Irwin DBZ figures back in the day. Sold em' all though. The new Dragonball Kai figure look really cool but are pretty expensive and are Japanese imports. My friend has some figures called DBZ Hybrids that look really cool too but again are kinda expensive and are imported aswell.
Here's a link to the DBZ Kai SS Gokou. Dragon Ball Kai: S.H. Figuarts Super Sayajin Son Goku - Dragonball Other
