I'm skipping Madam Web, but I did think that Morbius was okay. Surely not as bad as all the MCU kool-aid drinkers would have you believe. And Kraven is one of the few movies this year that I'm looking forward to also. But I care more about seeing a fun, action packed movie than seeing a slavish recreation of a comic or cartoon.
Can't believe anyone liked that Ghostbusters movie though. New York is as much a character as the 4 guys and they totally took it away. |

i am not a spider-man fan so i dont see any of those films, Sony does a poor job with films, much like Warner brothers does with DC, occassionily you will get a hit like Venom but multiple flops, like Morbus and Madame web, all these flops do is hurt the genre that is having issues anyway, studios are pumping these movies out with no real plan, at least the first ten years of the MCU had some sort of plan, but ever since it seems lost in what they really want to do.

Every review I've watched says it's boring.
The women are in costumes only briefly in dream sequences of some sort. If you want to see lovely ladies in superhero costumes. Stay home, surf the web for cosplayers. |

Just watched the trailer. I take back my comment about too many movies with the same character. I'm too out of touch with the Marvel universe to know who any of these people are supposed to be. The only spider-looking character was the villain. What that has to do with a precognitive EMT and her friend group is lost on me. I do not feel compelled to find out, but I'm usually happy to miss an MCU movie anyway.

That's the main issue... these people are not fans of, nor have any knowledge of, these franchises. I think I saw an interview with one of Madame Web's writers, who stated that she has no origin story. And I'm like... "tell me you don't read comics, without saying you don't read comics".
no one gives a shit about madame web. morbius i can see some people liking, but i've never met them. i wish i saved that video, but ive seen enough madame web dunking in my facebook feed i didnt want to add to it. but these people saying that it was never a requirement of their job on video was damning. Also, is Madame Web really a character you want to build a film around? She's a D-list character, at best. This should have been Jessica Drew's movie.

Dibonavemtira strikes again. Then again madame web was so off center its no wonder it bombed harder than hiroshima.

For what it's worth, my 11 yo daughter really liked it and my discerning 16yo said it wasn't as bad as people are saying

Marvel Studios Co-produced them with Columbia Pictures, and Columbia Pictures is owned by Sony. Right?

yeah, but the script, actors and director were all picked/approved by Marvel with far less input from Columbia/Sony from what I've read. Sony badly needed Spidey to do well after ASM2 didn't do as well as expected, so that's why they cut the deal to share him with the MCU.

I saw it. It was not good (not that I expected it to be. My wife dragged me to it).
It was bad. I do not have time for a thorough analysis, but I will see if I can get back at some point and break it down. Mostly, it is just boring and not-memorable. |
