I recently purchased this gi joe 1983 viper glider complete with box paperwork and figure at a toy show,i had never seen one in person so didn't have anything to go by as far as color condition or shade.I was able to obtain another cobra glider and falcon glider upon comparison,it seems the cobra glider I purchased looks brand new and more of a greenish tint to it compared to other cobra glider, any info would help.im not sure if these gliders can be made but it looks real and is the same measurements as the other 2 gliders.

I know it isn't very likely, but it sure does look like someone slapped Cobra stickers on a Falcon glider, doesn't it? It's always hard to tell if the colors are coming out in pics, but the shade of green looks really close to the Falcon. I've not heard of the blue Viper foam yellowing, but maybe it's possible.
I'll keep an eye out for an answer, because I may be in the market for a Viper glider soon. Good luck.

It looks to me like a Falcon with Viper stickers. The foam might yellow (i've never seen that though) but the paint should stay the same. That looks like green paint, not dark blue.
As for the likeliness of the wrong stickers being put on it. I can tell you I had a couple friends as a kid who had these things and both of them got both at the same time (they were pretty cheap). Easy for a kid to put the wrong stickers on. In dim light they look identical anyways. |

Thanks for the replys its a shame because the glider is in super nice shape almost new condition.also the viper pilot is great, and box is complete with uncut filecard and inserts,I'm not sure if I should sell or keep it.if I do post it it will have same pictures with detailed instructions on color and condition so buyer can maybe determine if it's legit.

it's possible it came like that from the factory. I had both gliders as a kid and my Viper glider was green. I remember asking my mother to take it back because it wasn't blue. I didn't even put the stickers on it because it was the Joe glider. I put the stickers on the headboard of my bed.

The off-colored one looks like the one I had back in the day, my version's color was not as intense as the more blue one, kind of muted in it's vibrancy so I m of the opinion that it's a bit of a combo of printing and age.
On a side note; has anyone scanned this thing or offering replacement foam parts? I haven't ran across any and I thought it would be something that enthusiasts would want.
