The other day I opened a plastic bin full of my Sigma 6 toys, and man, those things are still sturdy! What I loved about this line is that it incorporated full articulation with a generous amount of weapons/accessories, weapon containers, and cloth clothing. This integration was done better compared to the 12" Hasbro Joes at the time. Those felt short-changed, while Sigma 6 proved that it could do the same play style at a smaller scale and cheaper price.
I miss the hell out of this line and long for it to return somehow. I don't know why Hasbro did not expand it to include Marvel and Star Wars. That would be awesome. Even more accessories! Iron Man armory. It could be similar to how Mego was back in the 70's or whatever. Only fully articulated, and with that Hong Kong/Urban Vinyl-esque(I saw the toys as sporting this as opposed to anime despite the cartoon being anime) design inspiration that Sigma 6 had. Also, this line is one of the most durable line of GI Joe figures that you could give a child and not worry about breaking. Sigma 6, gone but not forgotten! |

Hear, hear!
Sigma 6 is the reason why I collect G.I. Joe in the first place. (In fact, I don't collect any other Joe scales at all) It is still the perfect toyline for me so far, and I do collect a lot of lines. Scale It is scaled at 8 inch scale, which is my favorite scale of all time. I love Centurions, and the 80s Japanese sentai figures along with the 90s Power Rangers released in this scale. It's big enough (bigger than other 3.75 / 5 / 6 / 7 inches), but not too big like the 12 inches. They're all solid, sturdy, durable figures with lots of articulation. They're fun and they know it! Accessories Lots and lots of awesome accessories. For example: Storm Shadow, which is a ninja, came with the whole arsenal of all four Ninja Turtles and more. Also the creative and best practical packaging ever with those weapon lockers. Unique Style I love those stylish, unique visual style of urban vinyl toys. Combined with the above points and merged with the G.I. Joe mythos is perfection. Character Selection We got soldiers, ninjas, SWAT, firefighters, samurais, robots, adventurers, etc. and have them fight each other. What's not to love?! It's really sad that Sigma 6 era is long time over, and even though they've won a lot of fans over, there are still some Joe fans out there who regard the line as the worst thing ever :( For me, it's the best thing that ever happened to the G.I. Joe line

I've liked Sigma 6 since it was first introduced, the only problem I ever had with it was the scale of the figures and vehicles. The designs and concepts that came out of that line were some the BEST in the history of G.I. Joe. I just wish they had been in my beloved 3 3/4" scale.

I remember seeing S6 at the stores, andnit almost brought me back into joe collecting, but having grown up and been with ARAH from the start at 82, it just didn't seem like my GI joe. I have to admit though that the toys were cool. I really was tempted to buy some, even after the 25th line began. That cartoon, though, dude......I DVR'd some episodes when it came on the Hib, and I couldn't even make it through one episode. It made ARAH look like an Oscar-winner.

Sigmas Six is my favourite Joe line of all time! I have loads of ARAH, a bunch of 25th/POC, and nine Sideshow figures, but there
is something about the Sigma scale, design, accessories and vibe that I adore! I customise the HELL out of these guys, and get so excited whenever a new figure arrives. I would give up all my other Joe stuff before I let my Sigmas go. One of the best toy lines ever. |

I hate to be the Negitive guy, but the one drawback to this line was the lack of vehicles for the 8 inch scale. Yeah, sure we had a 4 wheeler and a ninja cycle, but no jeeps, or helicopter, no tanks. While I loved the figures, the sheer lack of modern vehicles kept me from really loving these as much as the 1/18th scale joes.

Gotta agree with ya there, mate, almost no vehicular action at all. I had some of my Sig Joes in the 21st Century OH-6 Loach helicopter, they fitted perfectly! Joe has always been a vehicle driven line, so it was a shame we didn't get a Sigma scale HISS tank!

Sigma 6 was an amazing line, it is rare to find toys that were MADE to be played with, one of the most tough joint system I've encountered. Amazing forethought on the vehicles and how they interacted with the Dragonhawk, I don't think I've seen something like that since Starcom. On top of that a strange mix of fabric clothing and buckles gave it a kind of classic 60's-70's era Joe but the anime style made them more characterful to me.
The scale was kind of a turn off and the insane concepts that later came out, (Samurai Snake eyes???) made it feel more TMNT then Joe. I always wondered if the 2" scale stuff were in the 3'3/4 scale if it would have done better with collectors in sales? I know I would have enjoyed it much more giving modern vehicle updates to my collection. But also we probably wouldn't have gotten things like the Dragonhawk if it were larger. Still, a Street Razor or Firebat from the S6 line would have been a sweet treat in ARAH scale.

I have to admit as far as the storyline goes , the sigma 6 cartoon was not at all very good . But as a kid growing up with a seemingly endless supply of gi joes ( i remember when a toys r us would have so many on the shelf you could spend half an hour looking at all the different figures and another 15 to decide which to pick up) i certainly loved ARAH . And even with that mouch love for the old line , The first time i had a sigma figure in my hands it was amazing and i became obsessed with collecting the whole line. And durable? My two sons have the entire collection and not one has been broke.
Best toyline ever , tragedy no other theme could pick up the design. |

I guess every joe continuity has their loyalist. Even Extreme. I only remember getting that drop ship thing and modifying it to fit regular joes. other than that, i remember little about the cartoon or line.
