I wonder if it's on purpose that MasterMind Creations (affectionately known as MMC to Transformer Fans) and Toy Notch share virtually the same logo?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to 'test driving' these when they hit retail. As it stands it appears they've only been endlessly teasing us as they gear up to release... eventually? |

For those who commented on the prices, yes, it is steep compared to what we are used to. I looked into why this is since it seems all the 1/18th scale items that are being released now are falling into this price category and it looks like China is raising it's cost of labor and doing it at a very rapid pace. They still have all the facilities, work force and materials needed to produce but the cheap labor is going to be a thing of the past over there. One article commented that by 2015 it would be on par with the US, not sure how accurate a prediction that is but regardless it means our toys are going to be much more expensive then before.

I think the issue isn't so much labor as it is the economics of scale. These really are boutique pieces. If they were doing production runs of 50K-75K for big box retail these wouldn't be 20 bucks a pop. I bet the Marauder figures are 20 bucks or more after they become available in the store. They're gonna price themselves right out of the labor market. Time to go develop India's manufacturing base...

On a side note, here's an interesting article on the topic. https://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft...013/06/das.htm |

Too expensive for quality product? I guess if they came with under scale vehicles and had "Cobra" labeled on the side they would be worth it.
