My son is 10, being in a small town, he knows just about all the kids his age (there are only 4, 4th grade classes in the whole 2 town area).
He said only a few like toys, and it's wrestling. He was in cub scouts last year and had a meeting here at my house, there were about 20 kids. Only 2 liked my toys in my toys rooms, the rest were more interested in my PS3 and the Wii. This is a small demographic, but kids of the "target group" really aren't into toys like Hasbro believe. |

My ex-step-son, 10, loved the Sigma Six stuff. He was a big fan of 'em. He would have been going nuts over this movie line stuff. He was just as into video games. Edit: It's like when we were kids. Not everyone liked the same thing. Some kids like G.I. Joe, some didn't. My neighbor across the street, same age as me, he hated action figures. Wouldn't touch 'em.

That's the thing though. Were they not interested in the toys because it wasn't something they wanted in a toy? Maybe the Modern Era line wasn't appealing to them.

Like I said, maybe didn't appeal to 'em, lol
Bring 'em down again, after they've been playing video games for awhile, or if there's no games interested in, see what the reaction is then. Different strokes for different folks. When as a kid, around '82 to '87 range, I could have lined up 20 kids and only 3-4 would have been Joe fans. I'm pretty sure Hasbro knows what they're doing. There are hits and misses. They hit with Star Wars and Transformers. Missed with Hulk and Indiana Jones. I'm pretty sure they aren't going to make something they know won't sell at all. They are a mulit-million dollar company afterall. Don't get that way by wasting money and resources.

I've been waiting to see shots of the new PIT toy. Now it looks like a lot of waiting for nothing. Back to work on the plans for my own PIT.

Maybe I should have emphasized, my toy room is really my basement which has all my toys displayed (M.A.S.K., Star Wars, Ghost Rider, Hot Wheels, GI JOE, 1:18 scale stuff)
Out of ALL that stuff, only 2 kids really liked looking at it. The other kids saw it, then ran back upstairs to play video games.

The Thunderwing had a fold down gun, and the innards were not cheap at all, you can drop that thing on any of the original RAH jets and all of them would probably shatter under the impact. As disappointed as I was with the Thunderwing, that thing was one of the most durable joe planes I have ever bought. I wouldn't be surprised if the movie Raven is just as, if not more, durable.
Also as stated in the other thread, the first pics showed the handle off, so the handle either folds in or can be removed.

So far only the Night Raven is getting any interest from me. The PIT is a huge letdown, as taking a stationary base and turning it into a mobile HQ, just misses the mark by a country mile.

I guess I can for wait for this Pit to go on clearance for 75% off at Target and then I'll get one at $20 price range. With this bad economy I don't see parents running out to buy big ticket toys even during the holidays or even if the movie is a huge success.I was excited to hear about a Raven but now it looks like my old 80's Captain Power jet so I was a little disappointed

remove able or not what I mean is that the plastic used these days may not hold up as strong and/or as long as ones from our generation. I mean my raven and phantom slider bars work just a smooth and as great as they did when i was a kid. I really dont see the movie raven lasting nearly as long.
Considering that the Thunderwing was made in 04 and that the movie Raven is brand new, I wouldn't be surprised if it is extremely durable. |
