But in all honesty, not a lot of people gave the first movie a chance. To some if it wasn't like the cartoon or comic, then it was not worth it. But now the second movie will take off of where the first left off. There is something to build off of. I am thinking the second movie because of the first, will be a bigger hit. Of course, this is just my opinion...

ROC did what it was set out to do; introduce a younger generation of kids to G.I. Joe. Hasbro threw older fans a bone by creating Resolute, which was pretty awesome. ROC took into account all aspects of the G.I. Joe brand since its incarnation and was never meant to be a movie just for older adult fans. I for one did not like ROC but it was a mechanisms to bring Joe back into the spotlight. Just because the older fans thought it was a crappy movie doesn't mean that it'll screw us out of cool Joe products in the future, such as the POC line.
In the end, Hasbro must do what it takes to keep them in business, which means placating to a wide variety of fans of all ages, not just us. Does this mean that every future Joe product will be well received by older fans, no. But it provides future opportunities for awesome lines such as POC to come down the pike again in the future. |

what did the first movie do? only gross $300 million worldwide, probably another on dvd/blu-ray, and generate enough interest to warrant a sequel.
yeah, that certainly hurt us all. how about you stick with the honest position that you simply didn't like it and not project anything beyond that.

and the fact that reports of stores not carrying POC are clearly the exception, not the rule, your argument fails again. exception, not rule, and certainly not indicative of how the retailers feel about the brand. what you left out is the vast amount or stores, more than even the majority, that are carrying G.I. Joe. clearly, retailers still want the brand. any time you would like to address the reality of the situation, feel free. |
