different continuities have different bases.
Battle Action Force comics had AF operating out of Britain, IIRC, with a large base. They also have bases in the US and elsewhere, like Ascendancy Island in the South Atlantic. the audio adventure, The Baron's Revenge, has them operating out of an underground base hidden beneath the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England. The Marvel UK comics have them operating several bases in various nations, though primarily from bases in the UK, with at least one being an underground base in London below the level of the London Underground. They also operate a weapons testing facility named Stonebury. Dark Horse isn't the only AF fan or knowledgable person on here. |

With the Joes having both the Rock, and the Pit, plus the Flagg, and I added a second carrier the USS Austin, Action Force having more then one base aint a bad idea.

The way I've organised it in my fan-fic is that they have a 'command' base at NATO in Brussels, which is where they can cross-link with NATO if needed and where their oversight commitee operates. The Commander has an office there and there's a 'hot-line' to the Oktober Guard there as well as other staff positions.
The main operations base is the one beneath the NEC, with a second, smaller, facility beneath London, which was added after Cobra seized London in BAF's 'London in Peril' story, with that facility being the one seen in Marvel UK. They then have a base in Australia, which is principally used for satellite communications operations and supporting the Space Force space-station, and also to protect Australia which was attacked twice in BAF and once in Marvel UK. Their main space-launch facility is in the US, whilst they have a small base there, which is mostly used for storing kit and largely inactive. They then have smaller operations bases in Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Norway, Greece and New Zealand and a few equipment storage facilities in those nations, plus Turkey, India, Japan and a couple other 'friendly' nations which mostly hold weapons, ammo, jeeps and motorcycles. Plus they have the Nautlius, a modified SSBN submarine which acts as their mobile naval operations base. Oh, and they still have a facility on Ascendancy Island in the Atlantic. |

In the later BAF continuity, there was a large base called "Ground Zero". I don't think it was ever revealed exactly where it was. I always assumed they were based primarily in the UK, but that's probably because I'm British.

Thanks for the help guys, any exact location on the Ascendancy Island? Might be a good place for the Argen Team too.

it was somewhere in the South Atlantic, because it was basically a stand-in for the Falklands, I think. I think they might have also got muddled up with the real life Ascension Island.

Hunter (Chico Rodrigues) Speedy (Andre Merlet) Scout (Wolfgang Dremmler) Transistor (Luciano S. Morrelli) Shark (Jean-Paul Rives) Leviathan (Jamie Hugh Maclaren) Phones (Patrick Liam O'Flaherty) Surfer (Hoxworth Whipple) Quick Fire (Hans-Jorge Muller) Barracuda (Jean-Luc Bouvier) Chopper (Pete Sanderson) Stakeout (Albert Roger Jones) Sparrow Hawk (Peter Van der Berg) Beaver (Jacques-Peter Smith) Sky Rider (Charles "Chuck" Connors) Kiwi (Scott Walters) Blast Off (Greg Taggart) Hot Jets (Yuri Ivanovich Asimov) Hawkwind (Lars Elsund) Breaker I (Gianni Paulo Brazzi) Wheels (Frits Van Eyck) Tracker (Raoul Santillana) Doc I (Sven Inglesen) Steeler (Andreou Stakis) Flash (Jack Watts) Typhoon (Luke Ford) I have more from the "Filecard" thread from other parts of Europe, buy those are these are all Im looking for for now. |
