I dont know if there sub groups per say?
I created "The Cobras" a 50s street gang that inspired Cobra! I created "The Vipers" a high school football team that wears custom helmets implanted with mind control chips used by Cobra. I created an unnamed faction that serves under Baroness as basically her personal service. I am creating a new team of Joes that will consist of mostly customs of all the Joe Sports figures |

Most of my RoC figures have become alternate factions in my Joe-verse.
The RoC Cobra figures are a splinter/sub group of Cobra controlled by Dr. Venom (RoC Cobra Commander). Kind of like the COIL from the DDP comics but with no Serpentor involvement and an uneasy truce with Cobra Commander's "main" faction of Cobra. I use Python Patrol as a specialized Jungle detachment for Cobra, and augment them with Shadow Tracker, a few of the green Range Vipers, and a few Jungle BATs. Technically Cobra de Aco is supposed to be in charge, but Shadow Tracker is basically totally in control of the Range Vipers (whom he hand-picked and trained for his personal troops) and rarely pays much attention to what Cobra De Aco wants. Also I use a "battle damaged" Jungle BAT as a "named" BAT ("Rustbucket") whose battle damage has inexplicably made it smarter and more dangerous than a run of the mill BAT. It's also a member of Shadow-Tracker's faction. The RoC Joe figures are "Detachment Omega" which is a UN/NATO-sponsored covert task force basically designed to out-Joe the Joes (and the Oktober Guard, Action Force, etc...) using cutting-edge technology and a little more willingness to "get dirty." They have a mostly-friendly rivalry with the other teams and even a few members that have become "go betweens" (General Flagg II/Movie Hawk is the military operations commander for example). Snake-Eyes is basically his own faction. He's totally loyal to the "good guys" of all stripes, but he's a solo operator that can be called upon by any of the "allied" factions (Joes, OG, AF, Omega) if they need him. Jinx is affiliated with him and operates in much the same manner. It usually works out that Snake-Eyes works with the Joes more often, while Jinx tends to work with the overseas folks more frequently. Kamakura attached himself to Detachment Omega with Snake-Eyes' blessing (and to serve as a bit of a "spy" for Snake-Eyes, who worries that Omega might veer too far into "Ends Justify the Means" territory someday). Cyber division lead by Wraith with Retal Cyber Vipers (refuse to call them ninjas) and upcoming Data Vipers
Nano division with Nano Bats, Nano Vipers lead by Letal, created by Dr Venom with his body guard Iron Klaw (since I cant think where else to use IK..) and as mentioned above PP expanded with jungle bats, jungle vipers, green range vipers, shadowtracker and Retal Firefly carded masked head. Joe beach defense squad led by that blue Gung Ho with Blue shockblasts as nameless troopers enough to fill a POC Vamp 4-5 might be more but thats what all comes to mind right now |

I've got a group of Drednoks called "Savages" who are more like the Humongous's gang from the Road warrior.
My O13 Joes are in their silver age so I'm doing customs of the original crew to reflect that. The one I have for Cobra is roughly called "Omega Purge" and it's a think tank comprised of Destro, Overkill and Mindbender. The idea is that CC is getting more mentally unstable and has ordered these three to come up with a final solution; if the Commander cant have Earth then no one will.

HISS: though it's more like a sequel than a subteam(Cobra had been disbanded, and this is the reorganization of the more extreme members; the rest had gone soft).
Founding members: Baroness, Firefly, Zartan, Wraith, and two of my original characters. Serpentor 5 is the leader, though more like a figurehead to The Doctor and an unknown mysterious leader. |
