Hello fellow Tankers/Customizers!! I need your opinions/help.
First off, if I do decide to do this. This will be my first "custom"...so to speak. I hadn't put much thought into collecting vehicles but seeing more and more pictures of the HISS Tank v5 and the Cobra Fury I am really tempted into getting them. The brown color doesn't bother me much. Although it does look better in black. The way I see it I'm going to end up painting it anyways. Reason being is if I do end up getting the brown one I'd probably like to paint it maybe a military/olive green type color. And as for the grey parts of the tank I'd like to paint those some type of maybe gunmetal/steel grey or what not. If I get lucky and end up getting a black one then I'll probably just paint the guns and the "inner workings" of the treads a gunmetal/steel grey as well. The all black is kinda bland for me. With all that being said.....here are some questions I have: Is there any type of paint stripping I need to do prior to painting? When painting the tank, inner workings of the treads, and guns do I need to primer them first? Or do I just spray paint them? Also, what type of spray paint do you guys recommend? Keep in mind that this is just for personal use/enjoyment. I'm not going to be entering this thing into any contests or anything. Thats about all that I can think of right now off the top of my head. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Since the tank is moddled in color you won't need to strip anything but you might want to give it a warm water and soap bath to remove any mold release agents that could still be on it.
As far as paints go Tamiya puts out some nice stuff but a bit on the expensive side. Krylon has a brand of spray that bonds to plastic, using that will prevent rub. And a bit of primer could do wonders especially if using that Krylon brand that way the paint will be sticking to the primer and not the plastic, again, it could prevent rub.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
And....TTT awesome tutorial!!! So it looks like generally....since the HISS Tank is molded in brown/black and grey plastic then I shouldn't need to strip any paint. Just primer and spray paint.....

Should be fine, just mind environmental conditions(avoid cold, humidity & wind) and spray in light coats, don't try to cover the plastic in 1 coat/attempt.
Clean it first and keep it clean throughout the painting process. Read the label.
