Hello everyone.
After horrifying you all with a custom RoC Doctor I thought I'd made a custom of everyone's second most hated figure from that line, Accellerator Armour Duke. The idea behind this is that he's been getting into his armour when those M.A.R.S Industries jerks have burst into the Pit and started smashing up the place. She he grabs the nearest gun to start kicking some ass even though he's half in and half out of his armour. He's a mashup of the Duke figure and the RoC General Hawk. The stand for the chest armour is actually the tripod for that stupid spring-loaded launcher thing that Duke came with. A side note: I really hope the Retaliation figures don't all come with those rocket launchers. But maybe the kids love 'em and Hasbro doesn't have a choice. Anyway, pics: The head sculpt is a good likeness for Channing Tatum but when I painted it up he looked rather confused. I think the eyes are slightly too close together. Also he looks very shiny in the pics. The image on the t-shirt is a version of the Fort Benning logo and motto, since that's where Duke trained. It's a bit sketchy but freehand isn't my strong suit. The bits of kibble armour plating on the groin and shoulder are from a Warhammer Grey Knights Nemesis Dreadknight kit. |

As a kid I hated the launchers and other little gimmicks that the toy line started moving with in the 90s.

Awesome paint work!
And i would never thought an idea like this for a figure, very original. If the chest logo is sketchy, is not noticeable, and it's an incredible detail. to be honest, if this had been released, i would have buyed instantly. (and yeah, that Tatum head is not too good. The best one is the head that came with desert Duke, the eyes are not so close and head is a bit more rounded)

Fantastic idea and execution. I don't see too many customs where the 2 figs are bashed together to look like it's in the middle of donning gear or armor. Reminds me of the Wraith "mid-phase" customs. I'm wondering what paints/primers/sealants you used on Duke's H&K MP7? I'd definitely like to use your paint recipe and technique on some other ROC weapon scultps (like Helix's glocks).
I'll be checking in on the WIP forum to see what you're up to next! |
