I still prefer to have the discs or books in my hands. Digital is fine but I actually like something to hold.

I prefer something to hold as well, as far as books go. Games I'm fine with digital delivery unless it's a game that comes with a map. I like maps.

Kill the used game market and not some but all Gamestop stores go belly up. The used games are the largest profit producer in their stores. Ask any Gamestop manager who's a user on here and he'd confirm that for ya.

well i dont play online stuff and will only go onlien to download the free extras from pre-orders or what not. This guy is a douche and a half and is just trying to make a name for his company most likely since his two big games both tanked.

I guess what annoys me about Mr. Barbie Horse Adventures' comments is that he's tarring used game buyers and video game pirates with the same wide brush. People buy used games not because they want to steal games and cheat game developers out of their profits. They do it without malicious intent with the goal of saving a few dollars. That the developer receives no compensation (at least not directly) from the sale of a used game is an artifact of the market, not a willful act by the consumer to deprive the developer out of the money it's entitled to for the use of its IP.

i agree. the minute games start going download only i will stop playing...same with home movies. the minute i can no longer go into store and buy a copy of a movie/tv show i want to own..i will stop buying. I dont want just digital crap that can be deleted or erased so easily (cause not to sound all consipiracy theory pelican brief here but i can see that happening from companies at soem point.). I want a hard disc/data i con put on my shelf and not have to worry about it.

Well, yeah. I've kept track of what they've given me for a game I traded in vs. what they charge for said game. It's like a 450-500% markup on average.

Companies need to realize that all this, pirating and used sales, is a direct result of the increase in prices of the product and they need to do something about it if they want it to stop. During the 90s I was buying like 40 ongoing comic book titles and probably another 20 specials/limited series/annuals/etc.. in a single month. There's no way I can afford to do that nowadays (even if didn't get Joes). But I still want to read it all, and nowadays so many series are linked together that you need to read multiple titles for the full story. So how am I to do that? Same with video games. I can't afford to buy a new game for $60 that I may not even finish or enjoy. Used for $20 or $30 is easier to do.

Troy, the more you speak, the more you remind me of me.
That scares me. |
