Uh. . . . . this is the company that bought a Movie Studio and sold it at a loss without using it?
Released Gem and the holograms, the insane edition movie to theaters? Which used Fan Videos talking about the Original Gem cartoon and pretending it was for the new Movie? Signed a deal for the Hub, then cancelled the Hub? Made Force of Destiny, a Star Wars Doll line that was not designed as a Doll line? Cancelled the Disney Doll license after spending years trying to take it from Mattel and wrote that whole division off because someone said so? xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx If you say I'm wrong, I'll accept that because I don't give a shit, but the whole company was incredibly unbelievable even before Chris Cocks. Besides, Hasbro also already has a history of doing this shit so why is it so hard to accept Hasbro does this? 12 inch Gi joe, Action Man ------> 3.75 gi Joe 8 inch Sigma 6 --------> 3.75 Gi Joe Toy Biz 6 inch Marvel------ > 3.75 Marvel Universe-----> 6 inch Marvel Legends.

Man, don't remind me of Forces of Destiny.
How do you make dolls that are 99% molded plastic? Almost ZERO cloth clothes! Is the point of a doll not to dress it up? Come on, Hasbro. Should have had fully removable outfits. Only way I'm getting a 12" Sabine and they bloody blew it. |

If anyone can rationalize the decisions Hasbro has made over the past decade, please do so. All I've seen is them alienating a large selection of their buyers while also telling them that they listen to their concerns and plan on doing better in the future. What they say and what they do could not be more diametrically opposed and yet there are still people who hang on their every word and whim as gospel truth.

Let's get real Smoke Bellew. Yeah I could pull Text Walls, try to convince you hunting links down, but would it really work without the privately owned data? I heard it first hand working as a Toy QA and durability studies guy. You're hearing this stuff from a guy anonymously on the Internet. That and the market will not change either way, I'm just gonna throw my hands and go whatever. |

What we do know is that no company in their right mind would cancel a line of product that's selling well. That's just common sense. And I know it becomes tempting to say it's because Hasbro isn't in their right mind and etc, but that's reaching and verges into tin-foil hat territory. This was during Goldner's time, and that guy wasn't perfect, but he was a smart enough CEO to not cancel stuff that sells.
No company would shit on their own customer base by giving *another* customer base that very exact feature from the get-go and think it wouldn't be seen as an insult to the first customer base. Contemporary Hasbro's failure to maintain the customer base that was responsible for the single-greatest selling toyline that company had ever made is 100% the fault of the contemporary decision-makers for choosing to shit on that customer base at every oppourtunity. |

Once again, that's assuming a lot. We just don't know. Hasbro has a sales team that tries to sell product to retail buyers. It could very well be that Hasbro has tried to sell an expanded range of TVC with more "obscure" and/or varied characters, and the buyers weren't interested. We've heard before how retail buyers insist on so-called "core characters" so Hasbro has to sneak the more obscure characters into assortments where/when they can. And if the buyers aren't buying much TVC anyway, that leaves less room in assortments for obscure characters and less money for tooling investment. Like I said, we just don't know. Stating Hasbro isn't aware of the issues as we see them and/or aren't interested in doing anything about it is an assumption.
In the end, it comes down to money: if the retail buyers aren't buying TVC, it doesn't make sense financially to invest in tooling for something they can't sell. I think the inflated price of Boba Fett and all the store exclusives is a tip-off to what's happening behind the scenes. Hasbro has to apparently lean on the gimmicky ideas of "store exclusivity" and "premium format" in order to sell this stuff to the retail buyers. What sucks too is that the MSRP is heavily dictated by the retailers. If the retailers want to realize X-% profit on something, the wholesale price they pay and the MSRP become set, and so does the amount Hasbro can justify to spend on the design and production of that item. Also IzzyTipsy mentioned yesterday that BS sell at a better rate, yet I'm still seeing a ton of those peg warmers for $26.99 and this is not the first time. Quote:

i didnt watch that hasbro video that pissed everyone off about them hating us, but im not even the least bit surprised hasbro hates us, but not in the way of "because we expect too much" but in the way that i cant really articulate. something to the effect of there are people that are going to buy every star wars product they release, whether they dislike it or not, just to have a complete collection; so they're not forced in any way to make real actual changes or progress because those simps are going to buy it anyway. they expect those simps to buy it anyway. they look at them like simps. simps dont get any appreciation or respect, they get reviled and detested. you look down on simps. maybe that's it. In the end, I think many of you bitch for bitch's sake &, frankly, come across as unhinged. Step back, remember these are just things and focus your energy elsewhere. The same ol' rants yelling at your screen obviously isn't working.

in my experience with hasbro, just in the last 20 years, they have not been in the business of making good decisions. things have been even worse under chris dickhead, that's for certain.
