I keep putting off buying an ACTUAL vintage R2D2 in hopes they'll do a retro one soon.

Dang Beach just send me your address and I’ll send you a vintage R2. It might be a little beat up but that will make it more retro.

I might as well go buy the Aliens APC if I am thinking about the Razor Crest.

Hey all, if anyone is still looking for a TVC Mandalorian I just got a few cases in stock this week. I know this figure has been a pain to track down, so I'm excited to be able to offer them thru my store, Wayward Goat Collectibles. A lot of other TVC (including the Remnant Stormtrooper from The Mandalorian) and Black Series 6" figures are also available.
https://www.waywardgoat.com/product-...ships-may-2020 I hope you do a Hisstank discount!

So Hasbro has a new trick. Force vehicle scarcity on collectors so that the price point works. Honestly I can’t wait for the YouTube collector channels to give their take on the razor crest.
I agree in parts with ax, Smokey, PFC, and Beach. The price point is not really unexpected. Neither is the choice for Haslab. The problem is the benchmark. The sail barge was enormous, completely immersive and held like 100 figures. There was so many options for what to do with it. Plus the Yak Face. The value was clear. The razor crest will hold what... 10 figures max? Should have been a limited retail release. Send it exclusively thru Pulse. Anything but Haslab. The ship is fabulously designed and might get funded but after the barge and the add one for the X men Sentinel, this looks... basic. Hasbro again went with a decision that they think has the lowest risk and that might seem ok but there are going to be many ppl out there like Smokebellew that are done with SW. it’s too basic, obvious cash grab, and many were expecting something like an echo base, death star, or star destroyer. Something we can put 50+ figures into and has a lot of options. The price isn’t the problem or the sculpt. It’s the comparisons to the barge and the letdown feeling. If Haslab made more than one SW project a year, ok, but this has a Joe club feeling to it for me. Ugh. You are spot on. This needed to be some kind of regular release. I honestly thought it would be a Death Star Playset. Something modular that goes up instead of spreading out lengthwise (like the Barge or a USS Flagg) and I’d be happy as can be. I was really hoping for that. $350 for a vehicle, a great one nonetheless, I am probably out. That’s probably outside what I can justify spending on a vehicle. I could justify spending $350-$500 on a tower that is a Death Star playset. If that does not make sense, I apologize but it makes a ton of sense in my mind.

The Razor Crest is smaller than I was hoping. I measured and the door on the side is barely big enough for a figure to stand in. It's better than the BMF, which has a boarding ramp that requires the figures turn sideways and interior archways that aren't even big enough for R2 to roll through. But still, I wish that Razor Crest cargo hold was more roomy than it is. They didn't show any figures in there for a reason, it seems.
Also, the Razor Crest is one of the few Star Wars ships that has a shiny metallic finish. I hope they achieve that with paint and not casting it in that swirly gray plastic. |
