What are some of the best things you've found at garage sales? This can be gi joes, or other action figures/toys.
One of the best things I've found was a 1989 TMNT Casey jones figure. It wasn't dirty or damaged, It was in great condition. Although it didn't come with weapons, but that's fine. Anybody ever find Food fighters?

Found 3 new in box rattlers with wild weasel figures from a wholesaler at a flea market this past fall in ohio. I have debated opening these and putting them together since. These are probably my favorite all time vehicles. Two of the boxes are a bit worn but the contents are new as the day they were manufactured. The other is store new with small shipping dings but otherwise mint. The guy I got them from sold them for 5 bucks each and when I asked where he got them from he said they were in a hobby shop that had been closed for years and went into foreclosure and he got them in a lot at auction years ago before he then put in storage due to his declining health. Could I have been more fortunate? Likely no!

I use to go around with my older brother when I was 10-14 years old (over a decade ago) to garage sales looking for toys, we found an entire figure carrying case of original starwars figures (i think the case held 10 or so figures) and a couple of vehicles for like 7 bucks (if I recall it was a land speeder and cloud car), then the owner saw we liked them and he ended up bringing out a darth vader plastic head carrying case FILLED with figures and sold it to us for 15 bucks and they were in good condition, no weapons but they had their lightsabers and plastic capes intact. They are still in my brothers room. Best haul we ever had in our garage sale days and cheap (this was back when the Canadian dollar was weak as well).

Early 2000 I got a Snake Eyes, V2, original release and all, all items/accessories and filecard... Near mint loose (small factory error in painting the arrow on his arm. Also found a complete Armored CC, no filecard though.
For $.75. I weeped in joy. |

When I was just a young kid my mom always took me to thrift stores and let me pick out a figure or vehicle each time. They only costed between .10 and 1.00 usually. Most of the time I would find a GI Joe or He-man figure. One day we were walking past the store getting ready to enter, and I seen a Castle Greyskull in the window. I literally ran in the store and sitting in the window was the nearly complete and mint castle greyskull and a whole collection of master of the universe vehicle and figures sitting in a large box. It was one of the greatest days of my childhood life, especially since they had stopped making masters of the universe many years before I started liking He-Man! My mom paid like 10-15 bucks for the whole collection and I got many days of playtime out of the collection!

I was at a fleamarket in 2005 looking around. and I walked into this one building, and there was items behind glass. and I saw 2 Gijoe Figure cases. and I thought cool maybe its just a case. well I ask to open them both and see whats inside. Turns out there a shitload of figures and accessories in them. I got about 50 figures or so. I got all of this for about $20. and had a lot of complete figures in the set.

About 7 years ago there was a guy at the flea market selling old toys for redicuoulsly low prices. I saw a Transformers Astrotrain with box for $1! He told me he had sold a Diesel truck (Optimus) and a car carrier (Magnus) with their boxes for $10 each earlier that morning! I scored a trashbag full of vintage Star Wars figures, Millenium Falcon and a damaged At-At for $40. Unfortunately I passed on the Mego Spider-Man for $1 because he had a normal human head (I learned later that was a holy grail Sears exclusive "Alter Ego" figure)
A few years ago I was at the yearly toy show out here and I found a guy with 2 vintage AT-AT's (Both missing parts) for only $2 each! I pooled all the parts together and now I'm only missing the chin guns. At the same show I found a vintage Anakin Skywalker for $0.25 Funny enough though, I had a dream last night about a thrift store. There were a lot of Joe toys. I found an Action Force APC for $30 just missing one part. I also found the upper half of a prototype 2-UP of Jinx painted black (I think it was supposed to be less than a dollar) |
