I don't remember exactly which I technically had first, but I definitely had Micronauts, Adventure People, and 12" Six Million Dollar Man before I had any Star Wars.

Well, my first thought was Star Wars, but then reading everyone else, I had Adventure People, my first one was the fire truck with a male firefighter and female nurse. I wish I still had that, telescoping ladder but like an ambulance in the back.
Then Star Wars and maybe one micronaut. I had a couple playmobil figures or small sets too. I shared the little people castle with my sisters. I still have an adventure people jeep that I got when I was maybe 8. My cousins had dozens of the mego 8 inch figures which I thought were awesome but when Star Wars came out, I thought it was the coolest thing ever |

Palitoy 12in Action Man. Had a motorcycle policeman, a deep sea diver with the old timey suit and helmet, a basic soldier and a jeep. Not sure what else. That would've ben in 1982, then in 1983 I got a load of Action Force for xmas, so that was the Z-Force tank, jeep, Whirlwind, ATC, Skip, Tracker, Breaker and the Infantryman, the PAC-RAT redecos, the Rapid Fire Bike, the SAS Force Panther, MMS, Boat Patrol, Eagle, Quickfire and a weapons pack.

I think it might of been Kenner Star Wars toys. I remember i had a bit from various toy lines like Star Wars, Action Force, Mask, He Man, Secret Wars.

I can't recall if FPAP or MicroNauts/Metal Men were my first; but the MicroNauts was the first toyline I 'paid attention to' and actively looked for when my mom took me to the store.

I had some 12-in dolls, including Bionic Man, but they wouldn't fit anymore into my idea of "action figures" now, though they might have when I was a kid.
At the 1:18 scale we came to know and love, Fisher-Price Adventure People are kind of the proto-action figure line for me. I think I thought of them more as toys. While I loved them, they got shunted aside by the waves of action figure lines that soon followed. And I was okay with giving them away, where as I kept all my "action figures" that followed. I still have all my childhood figures and kind of wish I still had the Adventure People. I might have started with the emergency guy or maybe a scuba diver, but I had lots. Then I would have thought came Micronauts, which I might have thought of as my first "action figures". Then the floodgates started to open with early Star Wars, Black Hole and Battlestar Galactica. |

I had GI Joe and The Corps. Many more Corps than Joe because my family didn’t always have the money for Joes. Sprinkled in were a lot of Flea Market Star Wars, Adventure People and Galoob figs.
