Well I went to my local Wal-mart yesterday and low and behold I saw the new Marvel Universe 3.75 line. I think these look awesome and was excited to see them so I picked out the ones I was interested in, looked up at the sticker on the peg and just about fell out right there in the aisle......why in the f**k are these things $9 a piece. They are no where near as cool as the 25th Joes and don't come with a stand or the accessories the 25th Joes come with either and the Joes are cheaper. Just curious how everyone else felt about this excesive price for these figures.

$7.99 at TRU and Target (Walmart .. always low prices my a$$.)
Still overpriced for what they are (I still buy some though, damn me!). I got all of Wave 1, and I got Captain America and may hold off on the rest. Like you said, too much for too little.

I did the same, execpt i also bought goblin. I had the rest of wave 2 in my hand but quickly put them all back. I was hoping for the same quality as joes, but have been somewhat disapointed.

Yeah I was going to grab Goblin (kinda sad I didnt) and Hulk, then just figured I could spend the money better on Joes or food or something.
I'm sure I get the OCCASIONAL figure from the MU or the Wolverine lines (got Deadpool of course, no one else!) as time goes on, but the completionist in me is not feeling these lines.

The X-Men ORigins: Wolverine figures are worse. Same price as the Marvel ones and not as articulated as the Marvel or Joes.

I'm gonna pick up a few but not the whole line. They seem kind of flimsy and cheap too. One or two steps up from the Showdown figures but still could have been better.

I don't know why Wal-Mart is higher than everyone else. However, I don't think you can compare the price of these Marvel Licensed figures to the Hasbro Owned GI Joes. A better comparasion would be MU to Star Wars since both are Licenses Hasbro has to pay for to use

I've picked up Punisher, Black Panther, Iron Fist, Spiderman, Daredevil, Silver Surfer, and Bullseye from the Marvel Universe line and Brown suit Wolvirne and Sabertooth from the Origins line. I am going to be highly selective on this line, only buying the best of characters as the price for wat you get is high. Or until I complete all the Joes I want at least.

I feel bad for the fans of this line, they ARE expensive.
Since I have just a casual interest in these I only have 5 that I really wanted: Spidey, Punisher, Daredevil, Iron Man and a Wolverine. If I see something else I like, maybe a Silver Surfer or Green Hulk I might pick those up to. Really, the way I'm collecting these is "if they were iconic enough to have a movie made for 'em" LOL I don't know how much the larger sized Marvel Legends figures were priced, but yeah for what you're getting in a smaller package? I'm sure if I had collected Legends I'd be ticked. |
