well its gonna start hitting every other retailer soon. I dont think we'll have to worry about if the movie toys bomb...at these prices I think their retail sales are gonna be abysmal regardless of the impending Failure/Success of the film.

Just got back from WalMart, vehicle prices are now up to $16.97. Prices went down to $14.99 at Target. I think that a price hike now is ridiculous. You would think that prices would drop after Christmas because the demand isn't as high. I went to Shopko also and almost laughed out loud at their prices. $11.99 for a single, $21.99 for a comic pack and $28.99 for a vehicle, the shelves still had some Wave 1 (CC). Up until now, I was buying two of everything, those days are deffiantely over.

I remember it like it was yesterday walking into WM and getting single pack joes for 4.99, that was December 07 not that long ago. Now most retailers have them at 7.99 or higher. Almost double the price, what am I not getting here? Gas prices are down, people are losing jobs and homes, the world economy is in resession. How is it possible that they are charging this much this fast? How much does it actually cost to make a figure in China? I'd guess less than 50 cents each.
So where is all this money going? Who is responsible for this mess? I'm not 100% sure it is hasbro. Some of the price hike I'm sure is them, but I think it is more retailers. I think they are experimenting with price points. Look at all lines, all different toy manufacturers they are all priced between 6.99 and 7.99 at retail for 3.75 action figures. Is this all coincidence or planned price points? It's all greed if you ask me. To answer your question no I do not buy as many joes as I did in 2007 because of the price hikes. I buy 70 to 75% less. If they raise the price now we won't notice it as much(or will new collectors) when the TF and Joe movie toys hit.
I just wait 8 months and buy stuff on sale.

This is just a theory but Hasbro produce's the toys. However, they don't produce the plastic that is used to make the toys. That company, whoever that is, had to raise their prices during the rise in oil prices (thanks to a bunch of frakkin speculators). That's why we saw two price increases during 2008.
Now it's 2009, oil prices have fallen and one would assume the price of plastic has as well. Here's where the theory kicks in...the company(ies) producing the plastic for the toys are seeing record profits for the first time in many years. It's like the gas companies rolling around in their profits last year. The only difference, millions of people across the country don't need plastic action figures to get their vehicles moving. Then again, it's just my theory and I could be wrong.

Tankers like I said before, Just gotta be more discipline in filtering. As far as the troop building goes... just plain sucks!!! I guess you just have to train your troops to fight better.

My fellow tankers there is only one solution, buy direct from the factory in China pay a dollar a figure plus shipping and elimate the middle men.
