The difference is that Ford peacefully left after his role was over whereas Gina was fired. Also toys without her facial likeness (such as the retro figure and the LEGO set she’s in) are still widely available. Hasbro is still producing the retro collection figure, just not the TVC and TBS that have Gina’s likeness.
Also, I think the only reason the retro figure is still being released is that those figures were being packed into boxes and sent out when the firing occurred. It would have been a logistical nightmare for them to remove all of the Cara Dune figures.. I mean Hasbro is trying to pretend to be "socially conscience" or something, but as with most companies - that farce stops when it would cost them a ton of money. Any company that manufactures in China has no leg to stand on as being socially responsible. Lego might still make Cara Dune figures, Funko too.. who knows - we haven't heard anything from those other companies. I play a crappy StarWars mobile game... they use Cara Dune.. and have not made any indications of removing her from the game or making her unpurchaseable.. I really think Hasbro is doing this on their own to appease any possible cancel culture and not having the balls to say so at risk of angering fans Last edited by Dusty777; 03-11-2021 at 01:05 PM.. |

right... but I'm still looking for any reference to Hasbro saying they were told by Lucasfilm to stop making those figures..

Well I agree 100% on all accounts, especially the farce of wokeness we are living in right now. You can't act like you care about human rights and equality but ignore what your business partners in China do. I mean most people can see right through that, I would rather they (Disney) shut up and count the money rolling in instead of pretending to care and imply we're all idiots. Better an honest enemy than a false friend.
They shoot movies in locations in the middle east, where LGBTQ people and women are lawfully murdered in the streets. You would think Disney wouldn't want to give them any money - but they do. They rehired James Gunn who said terrible, terrible, things about doing pedophile stuff with young buys. (because there was no woke twitter backlash - as he is a Hollywood liberal) They do tons of business in China, where forced and child labor has always been a huge business model - and people of all walks of life have been oppressed forever- in fact, China is currently practicing genocide against Muslim people - and they hired an actress for Mulan who openly supported the government police beating and killing human rights protestors... Does Disney have any opinion on that? |

Disney should just keep their mouths shut about any and all ethical issues - they are one of the least ethical corporations I can think of.
