Seeing the return of T-crotches is just disgusting. There's actual potential in some of those sculpts, but it's ruined by mediocre articulation. I get that Hasbro has dumbed down the scale to make it more kid-friendly, but the lack of consistency Hasbro rolls out from line to line is just mystifying. We don't see it in other scales, so why can't Hasbro just stick to one formula instead of trying to reinvent the wheel every time they start a 1:18 line?

They aren't straight t-crotches. They have hinges, so they are pretty full range even if aesthetically unpleasant.
And since these are explicitly for kids, I think it's a durability issue. Frankly, the standard MU Cyke buck has shit hip articulation, and the later figures when it switched to Infinite and Legends pop off with so much as a stray look

they believed 3.75 inc figures would never get a new release. Yet here they are, proving that the lied again. It's always about the bottom dollar, this is probably cheaper and Hasbro seems to have lost the ability to manufacture old style Ball joints. You can see it when you buy the Retro Gi Joe grunt or Stalker, the ball joints are that gummy Star Wars version and not superior metal bar or Marvel Universe versions.

Almost like a metal tbar and oring could work better instead of plastic ball on pegs.

Then there was that super weird design they used on AA Hulk (which I agree is the best hulk) and a few others

I probably would have purchased a half dozen or so retro Ultrons. I won't even touch whatever the hell that T-R3X set is. Five Below will have to pay me $5 to get rid of it.
Retro wasn't the best line, but it was consistent. And I'd feel a lot less embarrassed giving a kid the retro Chad Thor than the mech virgin. |

Plastic Ts have worked successfully in many lines- its very strange that Hasbro are the ones that can't seem to figure out. It's actually gotten worse- the early MU figures were just fine. Most bucks were good except the Cyke buck. And then most everything after the rebrand was shit.
Then there was that super weird design they used on AA Hulk (which I agree is the best hulk) and a few others Anyway, I think Spin Master has actually made the best plastic t-bar/hip socket so far. It's pretty damn smooth on their DC figures. I think Hasbro finally got it right with Walmart Retro 4" too. I've never had an issue with the hips on the Cobra Trooper/Officer or Grunt/Stalker.
