From time to time, I've run into problems with other Tankers. I'm sure I'm not alone. But sometimes it seems that some people purposefully derail a perfectly good thread, and it gets shut down... and the person who started the thread gets the shaft.
Now, I know you can always send a PM to an individual member, or even a group of members, but that takes time. What I'm getting at, is that there should be an option for a private thread. It would need to be open to the Mods to inspect, but regular members would be allowed to participate based on the permission of the person starting the thread. So let's say a group of customizers want to discuss some projects they're working on and share pics and get advice, etc. Wouldn't it be better if some schmuck like me doesn't just pop into their thread and say, "Hey, can I buy that?"? It might be nice for the customizers if they could limit who could participate in their thread. Or if a group from a certain city wanted to have a thread, wouldn't it be nice for them if some guy from another area didn't just bust up in their thread to make a joke? So is it possible to create private threads? It might solve a lot of problems by preventing fights and arguments. It would be a more peaceful Tank for the Mods to patrol. And it would solve some issues... people could express themselves more openly with their friends, and if the threads are not open to the general public, the Mods wouldn't have to be so careful about censorship. Just an idea, what do y'all think?

Huh? Isn't the whole point of forum threads that they're a place of open discussion?
Isn't that the definition of a forum? Quote:

b : a public meeting place for open discussion c : a medium (as a newspaper or online service) of open discussion or expression of ideas |

Isn't derailing threads part of the fun or forum-ing?
I won't have anything left to post. To answer your question, I'll have to get back to you on that one. |

Best I think you can do is start your own "private" invite only group.

Is that an option on this forum? How does that work?
