Wow. What an ass. 9/11 effected more than just those in New York. It was the cause of a seemingly never ending war against terrorism. For some one who is writing a book loosely based of the US military, you'd think he'd understand that. I can't wait until IDW replaces this guy.
I wonder if Hasbro going to make a statement and distance themselves from his tweet, or stand behind his comments? Hasbro did say they want to reinvent GIJOE, maybe this is the direction they want to go. They have already proven it with the direction of IDW's political influences on the comic.

Baron Samedi touched on this, but this dude is claiming ownership based on proximity. By that logic, any number of victims' families, survivors, and first responders can over-claim him. So, if his argument is that he has a higher standard of "appreciation", he's still a dip shit because of the many people who suffered far worse than him as what amounts to a witness. His statement is tone deaf even within its own context IF I actually thought the context was valid.
Also, the dude is clearly a hypocrite. Despite the tweets the Baron shared, it seems he has no problem collecting a check from his overlords.

My mom was a day care prodvider, out of the home. On 9/11, when things went down, and the first plane hit, she stepped out of the living room to call one of her sisters, see if she was nearby, tell her to be safe, thinking it was a tragic accident.
And then the other plane hit, on live national television. And the four kids there, just waiting to go to school, saw it. Live. Just terrible loss of life. Death, caused by an blind hate and simmering grudges. And throughout the day, live or not, those kids saw people jump from buildings, buildings that would fall apart and crumble. These images, these things, are burned into the minds of the generations to come. Were they 'in danger,' were they in the line of fire? Of course not. But for this hypocritical jack ass to say it's self centered for people to express their own feelings, or events, or traumas from it, is atrocious. This was a tragedy, a disgusting act from a very, very disgusting group of people, people who morphed ideologies and morality to fit their specific brand of hate and drive, to take innocent life as a spectacle of fire and steel. Everyone has a right to feel, with this. Everyone. I'm sorry, but proximity does not denote exclusivity. You don't have a monopoly on suffering. I'm gonna catch flack for this... but I'm gonna argue Hama-Joe hasn't been good enough for me to care enough about IDW's license for a while. |

I guess that throws Pearl Harbor Remembrance day out the window too since I am neither from Hawaii nor was I born yet when it happened.
The thing is, discussing this comment as an issue of 9/11 misses the point. This type of person is an anti-American Marxist at heart. He will be against anything related to America, our military, the police, etc. To these people, America is the great Satan, a beacon of capitalism standing in the way of international socialism. |

While entirely insensitive, don't we all have coworkers that have less than rosey personalities and or mainstream thoughts/beliefs? Let's not can IDW for one persons choice to share those thought/beliefs with everyone via social media, however idiotic that may be. He's just a guy who has thoughts/beliefs that run counter to many others. It's not like our day to day world isn't full of a holes. Most just have the courtesy not to do so in public. Who am I kidding, it's pretty much the norm these days. I do not agree with his sentiments but I don't have to. F.l. Wright was by all accounts a real prick to deal with but one of americas greatest architects. Not everyone is a nice person, doesn't make them necessarily less of a person. We as in the general crowd play a part in this as well with the common insistence or compulsion to throw in our two cents there by poking the bee hive and all gather to watch the insuing mess.
I'm in DC, I remember those events clearly. It was a national tragedy shared by all Americans. Not everyone experienced it or has dealt with it the same way so there is that as well. He's just one man... you don't have to care for him or even like him really. From a larger perspective, it far less worse than what some in much more important jobs are doing on a daily/weekly basis on social media. Let's douse the fires and put away the pitch forks. I'm sure he will have to deal with the consequences of his actions as he rightly should. I'm not boycotting IDW over his beliefs. I'm not going to renew my GIJoe subscription because of his writing. It will have the same effect, but his beliefs have nothing to do with it. Quote:
But, there's no rule saying that Hama couldn't continue for another company or that someone else couldn't pick up for him at another company. |

Aubrey Sitterson: "So, coming out of the First Strike event, we thought it made sense for the name of the book to speak to the nature of the team. Don’t worry though—the reception to our unique take on G.I. Joe has been amazing, so there are no plans to stop giving you the bombastic, sci-fi-action-packed character drama that you deserve!"
https://www.pastemagazine.com/articl...nto-a-new.html I don't know, guys. It looks like G.I. JOE is doing fine?

I agree with JJ. He's free to talk whatever smack he wants, but it's clear from his writing that he cares nothing for the principles that GI Joe was established to uphold and further, nor does he have respect for a wide base of the fandom. And that, ladies, is a deal-breaka!* (credit to Liz Lemon)

This guy has a right to say what he wants. That being said, if I posted something like this on twitter I would be fired and I don't even deal with the public.
But, since he has a right to say what he wants then so do I and this guy can Suck a Douche!

The guy's a douche and hopefully he'll get canned very soon.
9/11 affected the whole course of human history and global politics, not just those in NYC or even the US. Only an idiot would belittle it's impact on those around us, whether they were there on the day or not. - edit: and his book sucks anyway.
