OK, Time for DH's Review of ROC Figures
CoverGirl - 7/10 As a figure sculpt, she's pretty darn good. Most of her comes from the laytests 5-pack lady jay, but she sports new lower arms and legs. The arms are (I belive) the first female arms to lack gloves. They look good, although like all bare arms of the ROC line, lack detail. What really hampers this figure is her head-sculpt. For those of you who know what she looks like - she's pretty hot. The head sculpt looks incredible butch. Just bad. Her accessories are good though. Two silver pistols, and a silver laptop. She also comes with a futuristic rifle, and a spring-launcher. Thunder - 8/10 A good homage to one of the Joes early tank-drivers. It very much looks like a resolute version of him, but honestly, its still pretty good. However, there are three things that prevent him from being a 10 - lack of helmet antenna (his trademark), and the utter lack of weapons or a stand! (ALL vehicle drivers appear to be getting that treatment). The Armadillo is what we know and love, with two side-mounted spring-launchers. (I accidentally launched one at myself, and they hurt) Take them off to get a spare armadillo. Not bad at all. Sgt. Stone - 10/10 OK, this guy is pretty freaking awesome. Good sculpt, lots of custom potential. To top it all off, put him in with your 25th anniversery figures and you won't know he doesn't belong. Comes with a space-agey rifel (which I quickly replaced), a pistol and a knife. Heavy Duty - 5/10 As a figure, he's petty good. Not the Heavy Duty we like but still. Not bad. The sculpt looks very much like the actor (good or bad). However, he only looks right when carrying his spring-launching chain gun. Unless you're looking for a Heavy Duty to placehold until you get a classic version. Probably a pass. Desert Duke - 7/10 Personally, I can't STAND The headsculpt. That said, the rest of the figure is great. THe body basically uses the dusty sculpt, just lacking the extra waist joint. The helmet with flip-down scope is awesome, and hides the head-sculpt. Personally, I would suggest this as a good fit for people looking for desert-duty greenshirts or people doing a Spearhead custom (like myself). Shipwreck - 8/10 Good Figure. So far the best dive gear I've seen in a while. Really fits in with the figure. Flipers slip over the back of the heal, mask has two hoses to plug into the pack. Also comes with polly which is kinda good. The headsculpt is great for those who were a fan of the VvV or ST skullcap look. The one thing hampering him is the semi-accelerator-suit torso. But that can still work for a diver if you stretch your immagination a little. Breaker - 3/10 The first ROC purchase I regret. Horrible, HORRIBLE head sculpt. The only redeaming quality of this guy is the laptop he comes with. It plugs onto the cable that is supposed to attach to the spring-launcher cannon he comes with. However, that end is exactly the same size as a backpack hole, so you can connect the lapotp to a backpack hole, or with a slight modification to a backpack (do you see where I'm going for a mainframe or dial tone mod?) The figure's vest and body may come in handy for custom work. I'm not sure what yet, but as a figure, I'd avoid it unless you're looking for the laptop or for custom purposes. Moto-Viper - 8/10 A great homage to our classic Moto-viper. Two problems - the visor should have been silver instead of clear, and the lack of stand/accessories. Not great, but not bad either. More to come as I open them. |

Shame on those Red Ninjas, they should be getting hit with VQ's "Ban Hammer" for their non-geneva convention treatment of p.o.w.'s like Dusty here. Candy Appel won't like to see her Dusty in those situations.

A Red Ninja C-J? What would Storm Shadow think about this? Quote:

Just need some silver or silver chrome paint and apply to the visor(inside) and use a black "Cobra" stand from the 25th line and make a label or use a ROC stand and make a label for it. Too bad this version didn't come with a removeable helmet. You could use Copperhead's handguns or Duke's for the Motor-Viper's 2 handguns that were in his leg holsters.
