Cobra Commander!
Most of his plots worked. Maybe not the whole lasering his face on the moon, but stopping the world, the pyramid of darkness, etc. They're usually undone at the last minute either because of cowardly troops, poorly timed in-fighting in the high command, and, yeah, CC's ego. But, hell, The Wrong Stuff and Cold Slither wound up being some of his most successful plots ever, and those were all CC. That aside, whether you want to take or leave the Cobra-La stuff, The Commander is still the guy who put the entire organization together. That's the greatest success of all, isn't it? Without him there's no Cobra. And the man was poised to pull it off again when season 2 concluded with The Coil episode. Finally, he always managed to get away and even had a few moments where his escapes were sorta badass like the time the gas comes out from behind his faceplate. Even when they capture him in Revenge of Cobra, he's still being a bastard to the good guys. I'm biased of course. Since day one, Cobra Commander has been my favorite character. I love the guy. Got sent home from school in second grade thanks to my anger over his fate in The Movie. |

This gave me the best laugh. Haha. Nothing like a pissed-off 8-yr-old ranting about what happened in his favorite cartoon. I think Sunbow (unfairly) made CC seem like a buffoon when they could've probably instilled better lessons to us if he was shown as being completely capable but not as good as the Joes. Liked him a lot in Resolute.

Something that doesn't really get brought up a lot is that even when Cobra fails in the cartoon, they're still sorta winning. I mean, they're still getting their name out there, and most importantly, they're still spreading terror throughout the globe. And that's really how organizations like Cobra would influence things.
