So Mattel just announced a program to take your old Mattel toys back for recycling. Ideally, they'll be able to recycle the plastic and metals into new toys, or at the very least, turn those materials into energy (I assume by burning them...hopefully in an eco-friendly manner). The point, of course, is to recycle/reuse, lessoning fossil fuel consumption and the associated greenhouse gasses produced, and keep this shit out of landfills. But the nerds...oh, the nerds! So far, it's caused these oblivious comments, but I expect more to come:
Mr_Scary92 - 2021-05-12 @ 2:39 am That is another aspect that puzzles me, does Mattel intend that people give back their toys without receiving anything in return?. Roadpigmaster - 2021-05-12 @ 2:34 am Ok everybody, start giving back to Mattel all your MOTU, Justice league, etc... figures for recycle... ?? Mr_Scary92 - 2021-05-12 @ 1:05 am And would this ultimately have an effect on the toys price?. It just goes to show how truly out of touch many toy collectors have become. They apparently don't realize that regular folks have kids who play with their toys until they're broken or they outgrow them, and then have to throw them away (or donate them if they're still in decent condition). Seriously, their first thoughts are of retail cost and resale value. https://toynewsi.com/241-39028

If someone is going to throw it out probably not a bad idea.

It's a terrific idea and yet another example of Corporate America shocking me by thinking realistically and trying to be proactive. Honestly, the recycle/reuse/refurbish mindset is one we all should be adopting, if for no other reason than our resources are finite. Anyway, point is, toy collectors have tunnel vision when it comes to toys. Actually, modern people have become exceedingly myopic in general, and only seem capable of seeing things from their own narrow vantage point.

Hey, has anyone here ever bought any of these Big Daddy Russian/Chinese trucks?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...RGJP817D&psc=1 I always thought they looked pretty neat, but also pretty chintzy. At $20 though, might be worth it.
