Rage over inconsequential shit, just like the old days! The more things change, the more toy nerds stay the same...
Anyone who says anything about "cash grab" when discussing products meant for mass retail consumption is automatically up in the night and being ridiculous. Of course it's a cash grab, that's the whole fucking point and the very reason for these things even existing! In an unrelated note, I didn’t realize there were this many collectors starved for o-rings.

That's the whole reason I sign up for overtime at work. I don't come here just out of the goodness of my heart. Overtime out here is a 12 hour "cash grab"!

Like, for shits and grins, let's say Hasbro created all new reproduction O-ring molds of exactly what the middle-aged O-ring fan wants. And the new line isn't a single retailer exclusive either, but one produced in massive quantities with the resulting cost savings from economies of scale. Those figures would still cost a surprising amount per unit and we'd hear, "WTF? These only cost $3 dollars 40 goddamn years ago! Nice cash grab, Hasblow!" |

It’s just ironic- and I know it’s not necessarily the same people- but I remember when people were clamoring for that Snake Eyes and were talking about how many they would buy. And now everyone is pissed.
Same thing happened with TVC. Everyone said “give us the 3.75 black series on vintage cards and we’ll buy a thousand” and they did and everyone was pissed. Someone is always unhappy, but this is a win for 4” ME guys.

Exactly, man. It's like people expect a business to not care about being profitable. It's nonsensical and ignores reality.

On top of it all they want to charge me money for this plastic junk and have some mustachio guy peddle this shit to me. I'll keep coming here day after day to air my grievances until hasbro makes what I want. |

To be serious though, Hasbro pushed a heavy wave of Rey, Jyn, Cassian, and Snoke - all of whom were loooooong rotting on Wal-Mart pegs at the end of the 3.75" Black Series - and in my area stores the VC repacks of those figures are still here in spades. There was one case each of new waves for Force Fridays or whatever and those got scooped up instantly, never to return. The only exception was the X-Wing Luke and Skiff Lando who clogged up the fancy cardboard display case in staggering numbers while the rest of the assortment was sold either to rabid fans or to a scalper. Nit sure which it was but it was picked-over early on day-one when I found it. The excess Lukes and Landos finally sold through the last of those around March this year I think. Anyway, the point is their figure choices and case assortments have led to complete gridlock in my city's toy aisles which has not only prevented me from buying figures I wanted to buy for the kiddos but has also certainly shown disappointing sales for my local retailers which will in turn make them less likely to stock new waves (and order fewer cases if/when they do). There's a strong element of that same "a swing and a miss!" incompetence here and it honestly makes me worry about what we're going to see when they reveal the next three figures. I just don't believe - at this point - that Scarlett will get the head-to-toe remake she needs in order to be worth buying or that the Club RB will be repainted in v1 colors or that Duke will get the "ultimate" version we're all envisioning. I just don't see it happening based on the level of thought and effort on display with these first three figures shown. If they repack a 25th Scarlett or Duke then I think this line will need to be fitted fir a toe-tag. After seeing Mr. Moustache on the live stream I don't put any act of obliviousness beyond him and I have that same old sinking feeling. That said, I ordered one of each figure and two of each of the vehicles. I actually wanted to buy the vehicles for the kids anyway but I threw in one of each single carded figure just in case. I'm not fully impressed with the updates on either of the driver figures but the Crankcase is at least a noticeable improvement over the 25th Anniversary version. The bar was pretty low on that one though. I have bones to pick with their parts choices for both drivers but overall they're ok. And at least they both look closer to the box art than SS/SE look to their card art.
