An exceptional group of figures! Very clean, production quality... What more can be said than "great work"!

I have been staring at your collage off and on all day. It is so full of chewy goodness. My favorites have to be the comic versions. I have managed to scrounge together enough parts to make desert versions of my recent OG13 customs, but now I find myself questioning if I would rather make comic versions instead.
What brand paint and color names did you use for the green and yellow of the comic versions? All that to say, that your work has inspired the heck out of me. Truly magnificent work. OB

OB But I'd be equally excited to see your comic versions (especially with the cool backgrounds). The collars might be tricky, but you've been figuring out these things for a while. The final finish colors used were Citadel Waprstone Glow (green) and Zamesi Desert (tan). The colors actual pop more in person, especially compared to the other sets. I usually add a dash more post-processing color saturation to my pictures, but at the time I felt they were vibrant enough. Thanks Duke, and welcome to HissTank. I myself only joined about a year ago, but was a daily guest for years before. I hope you're not totally new to the custom forums. We've got almost 100 pages worth of good stuff from the last 10 years up in here. Unfortunately, more almost half the members were using Photobucket for photo hosting--and all that gravy is gone. |

Thanks OB. I thought you mentioned in one of your threads that a an desert set was coming, and that you did some desert concepts in 2013 Oreobuilder's Blog: Project Retro Part VI. Based on your tan Grunt, a whole set would rock. It just grueling, getting together a whole set of 13 for all these each time, right?

WOW!! These are all great! Can't wait to read the commentary about each custom. I think your comic pack Zap is my favorite. I followed the link to your Flickr account and just kept clicking through all the various customs. Didn't realize you also did some Star Wars customs. As a former (reformed?) SW customizer I recognized a lot of the paint updates you did. Really like the updated ANH Han Solo with the painted TESB Han legs.
Question for you, you have a few pics with your SW figures in like these display trays. The pictures kind of reminds me of the cardboard insert that came with the original carrying case. What display is that? It looks like you can adjust the height of the platforms to conform to the height of the action figures. Quick comment about being a "reformed" SW Customizer. Yeeeaaaarrrsss ago, I created a tripod SW fan website about the Cantina Cantina Resource Page I think I was one of the first websites to try to catalogue all the Cantina denizens, plus I added a pretty thorough argument that there are 7 members to the Modal Nodes. I've seen this site referenced on German and Japanese SW fan sites. Pretty cool. I still get emails about this page, and I can't even update it (don't want to really) because the computer crashed that had all that info on it. Jason What look like display trays in some pics are simply fishing tackle boxes found at Walmart, great for 3.75 figure storage. The can actually stand as photographed, and even hang from its own tab, open or closed. They're nice for 12-figure sets, but a bit problematic for 13-figure sets. |
