Hi everyone,
I'm an extremely long time lurker, and now have finally decided to join up! I'm at the point where I want to talk to other people about my little plastic obsession I have and not feel weird about it. My Joe background: I have been a grown up Joe fan since 1998, bought some of the toys r us exclusives that year when I was 18 for nostalgia reasons. I didn't have many Joes as a kid, but not for lack of wanting, I had extremely young parents with very low income growing up, but they did their best to get me the absolute #1 joe pick during birthdays and Christmas. The highlight of my memories is the 88-90 era culminating in a Thunderclap xmas gift, which was the last Joe I ever recieved as a child. I now enjoy sharing my re-purchased vintage and ME Joes with my two young sons, and am quite amazed how well they hold up to the rigorous play a 5 and 3 year old can put them through (most of my o-rings are "newish"). It is also required that I tell a Joe story at bedtime, which has been on going for the last year. Anyways, I'm rambling on, I look forward to sharing some of my customs, and getting to know some of you. Crow |

Welcome Crow!
I want to hear your Joe Stories? I have all girls but I am sure they would love Joe Stories at bedtime, since my singing sucks. I need some new ideas.

It's a pretty simple formula, I make the boys pick out 3 joes, 1 cobra, (1000 B.a.t.s.) and I pick the location. Usually HQ, cobra island, and the forest... they either get dropped off by tomahawk or whale, the boys are usually in the story and are the main heroes and destroy all the bats. We always capture the villain and throw them in jail, but they always escape so the story can be continued the next night. At the end Gen Hawk gives out medals, my 5 year old is highly decorated already... I try to keep it to 5 min, and sometimes I have to steal ideas from the cartoon... I did get to teach my son about treating prisoners fairly, he wanted to decapitate Cobra Commander once, and I had to explain why G.I. Joe would not do that. Good thing 5 year olds don't rule the world. i try to keep everything pg of course, hence all the bats... |

after a 3 year Hiatus, I have returned! new customs soon hopefully though i sold my fodder and parts box like a fool. My heart was broken by Hasbro so little support for such a great line. back when the 25th was released I felt 10 again with all the classic style cards and amazing new figures. but then the movie....sadly the movies were a huge contributor to the tanking of our beloved figure line. anyway, maybe in a few years someone will remember the meaning of nostalgia at the toy company and we will see another golden age like we had until Tatum and Johnson choked the life out of it. Until then I think ill make my own toys ! see you in the toy aisles!!

Good Day all!
New Member here, been looking around for to see if there were any good GI Joe forums around, and the first 5-10 pages made good reading! I like it here! I've often considered rounding out my childhood collection (which I still have) but I have so many collections... long story short I've narrowed it down to two.. one video game collection (Sega Genesis) and one toy collection (GI Joe). It was a hard pick... but in the end... I feel GI Joe just has the best overall "toys", once you strip away all outside media. That's just my opinion. Glad to be on board! Here's some figs I recently dug out. I've always been a fan of mixing and matching accessories. Battle Gears are my best friend. Rarely are my Joes outfitted with their own accessories... but I do try to make them suitable based on file card info. |
