On Thursday I got a call from my mom and she said my son called her and said my home got broken into. I get home and my Imac, camcorder, camera, PS3, 360, and safe with graded sports cards in it were taken. Yes none of my rare Joes or jerseys were taken. I call the police and file a report. My cousin who lives 3 houses down said he seen 3 guys around my house in the morning.
I end up taking Friday off and for the fun of it I check ebay and find a card that looked familiar. I check the seller and they are in L.A. local. I look at his recently added and most of the cards that were stolen, he had for auction. I take a trip to their shop and ask the owner if he purchased some cards the day before. He says yes. I started to name cards and some that were not online and told him my house was broken into and he said these are your cards. I told him if he had any info on them and he said I wrote them a check and they had to give me ID and he did. What kind of stupid person steals from a house and sells stuff with serial numbers and gives their ID for money? I got my cards back and gave the detective his name and license#. On Saturday the detective came to my home and took pics of the cards I recovered. I asked him if he knew who it was and he said, I'm going to the card shop to look at the surveillance and then pull him from his house if he's home. HA!HA!HA! That's what they get! As for the stuff that was stolen, it is all insured. I have my new Imac! What a weekend Last edited by Darth Cantu; 05-31-2011 at 03:23 AM.. |

Good to hear it's working out for you. Let's just hope the justice system works for you. I walked into a Blockbuster a few years ago and wound up with a gun to my head. Right as I walked in a pair of men pulled a gun on the clerk, then the other turned the gun on me. Of course the way Blockbuster is, you can't go out the entrance so I was screwed. Long story short, they caught the guys, due to the fact that they were on camera, we all pointed them out in a lineup and they had finger prints everywhere. Well luckily in Florida we have the 10, 20 life law. Use a gun, mandatory 10 years, shoot it 20 years, injure someone, it's 20 to life. But the justice system failed miserably and they were out in less than 2 years. Go figure.

That's a fine piece of detective work you did. If it wasn't for your digging and following the leads you discovered nothing would have happened. Good job.
The thing that bothered me about what the police said was that they would nab him "if he's home" I know they wouldn't stake out the place or anything, but couldn't they also get him at his job? I mean you practically handed the guy over to them on a silver platter. Edit: well I suppose if he's robbing houses he probably doesn't have a job. :( Last edited by sharky; 05-31-2011 at 10:47 AM.. |
