Is this a way Hasbro could do one with Modern tooling?
What do you think? I'm sure there are better legs that could be used. I just plunked a Volcano Viper head on a Nano-Viper body to illustrate. The armor has a definite organic look to it. Some people hate the creative stretching of molds but it doesn't trouble me typically. I'd rather have something than nothing. I still hold out hope for a Cobra-La convention set. Isn't 2012 the 25th anniversary of the movie? 15 ACTION FIGURE SET Triple T Sergeant Slaughter Falcon with removable beret Jinx with removable mask Big Lob Law & Order Iceberg Serpentor in V1 colors Mutated COBRA Commander Pythona 6 Royal Guards RENEGADES 3-PACK Mercer Red Dog Taurus COBRA 2-PACK Arctic Viper Arctic Tele-Viper SINGLE Golobulus GIVE-AWAY VEHICLE Devilfish VEHICLES Stun with Motor Viper Thunder Machine with Thrasher PARACHUTE DROP COBRA Soldier

Get a RoC Crimson Viper, BFJ.
They look a lot like a cobra-la guard, and honestly, they look really cool.

I do have one ROC Crimson Viper but he's disassembled for my partswaps. Even though the color and, well, everything else is wrong...my two Nano-Vipers will serve as Cobra-La stand-ins. They have the most alien look to them. I confess I've always thought the Yuuzhan Vong action figure from the comic 2-pack had a Cobra-La feel to it. I regret not picking up at least a couple of these (though I confess I didn't see them that often). Rebelscum.com; Star Wars Toy News Archive

Actually not bad. I would agree with M_renegade tho, the Crimson one would probably work even better.
And most of that Con set would be awesome.

The armor and shoulderpads look do look organic. I wanted to get one to use the chestpiece and make a Croc master with removable armor, but RoC sold well here and i couldn't find anything. There's also another of those vipers witha purpleish armor. The more common ithe silver, but the purple might look cool for Cobra-La drones. Quote:

I've been a fan of a Cobra-La con set for a long time, but I think with the actual Cobra-La characters the club would have to shell out the cash for some new tooling.
Here's how I think it breaks down: -Falcon, Chuckles, and Tunnel Rat already exist in 25th, so you could just give them a Sunbow style repaint. -Jinx you could probably get away with some reused parts since she wears a baggy outfit. Would need a new head and torso. -Law could be completely reused tooling with whats already available between his two modern figures, and some other parts already out there. -Big Lob would probably need a new head at least, otherwise could be mostly reused. -Royal Guard, mostly new tooling, but on the plus side they could give us at least 6 of them, so that would help get some more mileage out of the mold. -Nemesis Enforcer just repaint the two pack version, maybe some minor tweaks -Golobulous definitely would need to be all new tooling for the most part -Pythona all new tooling for sure Maybe they could include a DVD/Blu-Ray of the movie or something? Overall I think this could end up being one of the best and most popular con sets of all time, but it would have to be done right, and not have so much reuse. |
