Tamkers,
As a Jonah Hex fan since I was 10 years old in 1982, I think the adaptation looks horrible. Hex does NOT have supernatural powers!!! I put up with his death, his time traveling and 20 years of no monthly comic book, but this takes the cake!! But what do you guys think? Not really accurate to the source material, but it doesn't look all that bad.
Rename it something else and good to go I think. Looks like it'll be entertaining at least.

I loved the Vertigo mini-series they did, if they're at all like that, it'll be cool.

I like it.
Always liked that kind of outdated, steampunk technology. While Jonah didn't had flashy power, he certainly had always a weird mystical vibe (i'm sure i saw him talking with spirits or something like that). The scar is less...strking here, mostly cos it would look too ugly and it's basically impossible to pull decently (it also doesn't make sense, that eye would have dried the first week lol). I still prefer the Tomahawk cut for the scar.

The current series has been comic gold, and this coming from a tru-blu Marvel Zombie. The more fantastical elements remind me of the Crow, and the look seems a bit taken from the design of the Wild Wild West remake. Don't know if that's a good thing or not, but I guess we'll see.

I always thought it was a cannon ball that scarred him. Yeah typical Hollywood take a simple but good story and muck it up. But I still wanna see this. I've always got time to see steampunk and weird west stories.
On a total side note if any one can get there hands on a copy of the Solomon Kane movie it's worth watching. |

My only familiarity with the character is his appearance in Batman The Animated Series (facing a somewhat younger Ras Al Ghul), but I can tell if that was in any way faithful to the original then this sure as hell isn't.
That aside, the movie looks very mediocre. Yeah, yeah, horse mounted gatling guns, explosive crossbows, talking to dead people... been there, done that. Something about the movie just feels cheesy. Not subversively cheesy like the Evil Dead movies or Planet Terror, but popcorny flashy cheesy. Unless I hear some really good reviews I'll probably wait until DVD. |
