There's some negativity about them, not all suck. Trust me!
What do you all think of the following ones? The Thing. The Fly. The Blob. Dawn of the Dead. Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Night of the Living Dead. Cat People. House on Haunted Hill. The Hills Have Eyes. The Ring. King Kong. The Last House on The Left. The Toolbox Murders. 2001 Maniacs. The Wizard of Gore. My Bloody Valentine 3D. All excellent examples of horror movie remakes done right. Some fair or decent ones: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Halloween. Friday The 13th. Bad examples: Psycho. The Fog. The Wicker Man. King Kong 1976. One Missed Call. Etc. |

I don't see any horror movies on that list, just gore movies.

I really enjoyed The Thing. Saw it when i was pretty young, scared the crap outta me.
I also liked the remake of Body Snatchers, but the rest of them didn't really impress me. |

I'm anxious to see how the new Nightmare on Elm Street is going to turn out. I would also love to see a remake or a sequel to Night Breed. That was an awesome movie.

I'm not big on remakes and I am a huge Universal Monster/Classic Horror movie buff so my opinion is already biased. I'm hope Wolfman is good and I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt.
Jeff Goldbloom's Fly was a really good take on the Vincent Price classic...House On Haunted Hill was a friggin joke compared to the VP original. Rob Zombie's Halloween was fantastic I thought, however everything he did with the 1st one as far as charecter development went...went to to shit in H2 which was barely watchable. I just PRAY they dont mess with cult classics like Phantasm or Fright Night (too late!) As far as Night Of The Living Dead goes...to me, that is the quintessential horror movie...and if you follow the Dead story line, its clear to see George Romero has completely lost his friggin mind. Lastly, King Kong? Do me a favor and punch Peter Jackson in the chest for me...the 76 remake was cool, but nothing will ever beat the "33" original! |

The Thing- Great movie. I did jump at times when I was a kid.
The Fly - Good as a movie when you don't compare it to the original. The Blob - Okay. Not a movie that I remember too well. Dawn of the Dead - It was okay up until the credits and then it sucked. Invasion of the Body Snatchers - It's so 70's. I like the original's ending better. Night of the Living Dead - Okay. I saw this one in the theaters but I like the original better. Cat People - Natasha Kinski. What's not to like? House on Haunted Hill - Meh. I like the original better. The Hills Have Eyes - I didn't really care for this remake. The characters are too stupid. It's almost like watching a WWE match. The Ring - I like the Japanese version better. King Kong - What a long movie! It was enjoyable though. Much better than the 1976 version. The Last House on The Left - I like the 1972 version better. I liked how the mother castrated the guy in the original version. My Bloody Valentine 3D - I liked the original better. The only thing enjoyable about the movie was the 3D. |

I am not really a Horror/snuff film fan but I did enjoy the Thing remake back in the 80's.
