Deadwood, Season One
The year is 1876. Custer has had his last stand, Wyatt Earp is the Deputy Marshal of Dodge City, and Wild Bill Hickok arrives in Deadwood. The town is currently booming, as gold has been discovered in the area, and numerous people, from all over the country, have arrived, hoping to strike it rich. The entire cast in this show is fantastic, but I think anyone who has watched this show will agree that Ian McShane is the standout as saloon owner, Al Swearengen. This is probably the greatest western show ever created and it's a shame it only received three seasons. I'm glad they were able to re-visit the series later, with a film, and give closure to all the remaining story threads.

I have, but I'm actually doing an historical watch through of my collection and I just happen to be at the post-Civil War, pre-20th century part of history.
