Taken strictly as a horror movie/slasher film, "Halloween Kills" (2021) is little more than a gory bore. However, it is slightly successful (somewhat) when viewed as a metaphor for the Me Too movement, imo. Even if, admittedly, there wasn't much support for this theory among my friends/colleagues. (Someone actually asked if I was "feeling okay?") Although I'm pretty sure the problem lies with them, not me.

Poltergeist. It's weird how movies that scared the hell out of you as a kid seem almost comical nearly 40 years later.

Watched a pair of movies whose titles make them sound a lot scarier than they actually are.
"The Night House" (2021). Left alone in an isolated lake house, a recently widowed teacher (still processing her seemingly happy husband's sudden suicide) starts seeing ghosts. Or does she? And while Rebecca Hall is a brilliant actress, to be honest, I'm getting quite sick of the "Could it all just be in their mind?" horror sub-genre. Best of which, by far, is the 2003 French film "Swimming Pool". The worst? "High Tension" (also from 2003, French, and by far). “There’s Someone Inside Your House” (2021). Super silly, but brutally bloody, high school slasher film. On the plus side, the cast of characters is extremely diverse/inclusive (particularly as it relates to the LGBTQIA++ community). However, regardless of what each character may identify as, all are equally bland cardboard cutouts. Though I did love how creatively the film incorporates white privilege into the plot twist. Also saw the second episode of "Chucky". Easily the best show currently on television (now that "At Home with Amy Sedaris" is cancelled).
