Honestly most Zombie flicks are pretty mediocre and I'm pretty interested in the genre. The best one I've seen recently is probably Diary of the Dead and the camera work in it is definitely not for everyone. They were pushing a few at SDCC this year and IMO Zombieland's trailer looked really interesting in a campy sort of way. Hopefully it's good so I can add another to my list of good Z films.
The thought of Zombies and Joe scale makes me want to make custom 25th style Resident Evil/Biohazard characters. Palisades already made excellent RE figures though.. |

peter jackson's 'dead alive' is a good one, best thing he ever did as far as i'm concerned. it's a comedy/drama/love story/zombie flick. the original dawn and day of the dead are great, too.

Yes!!!
Other tankers: Lookout for the painfully slow eye gouging scene and the insane zombie vs. shark scene. No CGI bullshit! The first half of Undead ( a New Zealand film?) is cool too. You'll see what I mean... For the it's so terrible it's good category? Check out the zombie vampires in Against The Dark with Steven Seagal.Yes.Steven Seagal. Hells to the yeah, I have the old Felluci flicks...secretly renting them as a kid because for points unknown my mother was against it. I miss the days of awesome makeup and animatronics compared to computerized effects.
Jack Brooks Monster Slayer by the way; watch it, just awesome, animatronics, men in suits, a non-CGI modern horror flick that pays homage to the Evil Dead. I had five or so Zombies based around Craps! Figures I had laying around, over the last two weeks I've expanded the cast with spare VvV parts to about 24; I'm posting pictures next week after I do some more detail work on them and make about five to six more. My first 25th/ROC style zombie is likely going to be an ROC covergirl I have. Last edited by Mdaggs; 08-26-2009 at 10:33 AM.. |

What? Zombies are the only true horror flicks out there. It's so close to reality (if taken as a metaphor) that it's horrifying. We're always just a few wrong turns from a massive outbreak of some sort of contagion that could rip through our reality. Granted, it's not like people would start chomping on each other...but the model is sound, whereby your friends and neighbors become your worst nightmare.
I think Zombie movies would be my absolute favorite form of 'entertainment', and was loving on the post 28 Days Later revival of the theme. This whole Vampire obsession lately just annoys me (Ima blame the gawd forsaken Twilight, and everyone who digs that crap). A great one, not yet mentioned here, was the re-make of Dawn of the Dead (wooot for Canadian productions!!). The first 15 or so minutes of the film are classic, classic cinema!
