It's the future of the entertainment biz and a smart move by Disney to jump in. Once Netflix and Prime started creating their own content, it changed the landscape and turned streaming services from partners into direct competitors. The new reality is that you can't just be a provider of service or a provider of content, you have to be both. Out all the "majors," Disney is best suited to hit the ground running in this new reality. They have the content to pull it off and the drive and infrastructure to do it right. Besides, they're targeting $5.00 a month, which would be a deal. Honestly, if the rest if the "Big 5" follow suit, Netflix is done for, but I suspect Netflix will partner with one or more of them and become the exclusive outlet for, say, NBCUniversal or etc.

Wow. I really enjoyed the series. Each one was better than the last. When you’re an Irish Catholic kid growing up in NYC DD is pretty much you’re guy! I hope the show with the existing cast gets picked up somewhere. I wanted to see another season with Bullseye.

I’m still trying to comprehend how Daredevil got the ax before Jessica Jones.
Granted they’ll all be canceled but, DD before JJ, really? Quote:

New seasons of JJ and Punisher are already filmed. They won't announce the cancellation before the shows air, even if the decision is already made.

Funny how the Blu Ray releases of the Marvel Netflix shows have stopped too... Defenders is very overdue. Very annoyed by the cancellation, as season three was just incredible. Marvel say "Daredevil will be back", so I hope they keep the same cast and continuity of the Netflix shows, wherever it lands. Rebooting after such a critically acclaimed run would be nuts.
I'm not going to lash out and blame Disney until I know all the facts though. Maybe it just came time to renegotiate the rights and Netflix couldn't afford the dough.

Glad I discovered this thread. I've been a huge DD fan since the early 80's glory days of the title, when Frank Miller took over as writer/artist.
And, I felt the 2003 DD Affleck film was an execrable P.O.S., and also despised the later Elektra film - both were crap. In both cases, terrible casting & story; IMHO these films are Marvel's two worst superhero movies. So, I didn't have high hopes for the Netflix DD show - however, I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt & watched this not long after it made it's debut five years ago - and felt it was amazing: 1) First of all, superb casting all around. Other than D'Onofrio & the actress who played Karen Page (who was great in HBO's True Blood series, playing a vampire) I wasn't familiar with the other cast. However, everyone was perfect - Foggy especially reminded me of the character in the comic. When it comes to movies & TV shows based on comics, IMHO casting is critical - especially if the viewer is familiar with the source material. 2) The dark/night-time setting for most of the series reminded me quite a bit of the comic from the '80's. 3) I liked how we don't see DD in the suit yet right away, but is a hooded/masked character - just like in the comic. 4) The plot point of being able to understand Matt/DD's ability to tell if people are lying (based on being able to hear their heartbeat/pulse) was fairly well "explained" - for those who weren't familiar with the comic. The above being said, I do feel that, as a fan of the comic, I possibly appreciated the series more than someone who had 0 familiarity with the source material. |

I completely agree that this series was cast fantastically and well done. I hope they find a way to integrate these characters in the mainstream MCU.
