Yeah, but that's like landing on Earth in the middle of the Sahara Desert and being mad that there's nothing there. It's your life's work. Spend more than a day looking around before you get all mad about it. For all they knew, they could have just landed in an alien cemetary.
My view has actually shifted after multiple viewings. It works for this movie and the rest of the Alien movies. It's not them that are the aliens, it's us. I can understand the Engineer being ticked off and beating up on the humans that have intruded on his ship/home. |

Ain't I t Cool News has a link tot he John Spaiht's original script before it was touched up by Damon Lindelof. Spaiht's himself has confirmed it's legit.
AICN offers up some comparisons and contrasts: * Spaihts’ Engineers are described as 15 feet tall. It takes two humans to lift a massive Engineer head. * David the android introduces Watts and Holloway to the living Peter Weyland on the Weyland’s Wheel space station in Earth’s orbit. There is no holographic Weyland near the start of the movie. * A chestburster kills Holloway in its escape from his torso. * Halfway through the movie, we learn a Weyland security force has been hidden on the ship the whole time. . * There’s a deadly, acid-filled giant centipede. And an “octopoid” facehugger different from the one with which we’re familiar. It turns out these Engineers carried at least seven kinds of weaponized species. * Watts becomes impregnated with an alien when an angry David places a facehugger on her. There’s still a big medpod C-section scene. . * The movie ends with David and Noomi playing chess as alien beacons signal their masters. David and Noomi do not use an Engineer ship to escape the planet. ] |

That's a great set. I just hate the packaging. Those cardboard sleeves are a pain. And in the case of the "Indiana Jones" movies, may be causing scratches. Amazon.co.uk frequently has the UK set of the Aliens movies on sale for $20 or so shipped. They come in the plastic snap in cases and are region free. The Indiana Jones set is too, in case anyone wanted to know. Which is doubtful.

The film itself is very much open to interpretation, much more so I think then just another "Alien sequel" which I feel the original scripts for Prometheus were - just more of the same. I like that the film leaves some things open to MY interpretation, at least until a sequel comes along and explains everything.

Yeah, it's much better than any Alien movie to me. The Engineers are much more interesting.
We see them all wake up when they got close to the planet, but as for the landing that seemed to be pretty much improvised. They weren't looking at any sort of scans or maps of the planet. As soon as Holloway saw the roads, he made them land there. We do know that they only spent a couple hours searching before nightfall. Holloway was insistant on going out for the few hours they had. And then the following night gave them enough time for the shit to hit the fan. I loved the "Blade Runner" reference in the special features (though I never cared for the movie itself). It was in the text area of the younger Weyland's speach. |

I missed that one, honestly my favorite viral was the David commercial - the others were just odd, so by the time the speech rolled around I'd stopped paying attention especially after the crew one with them being tested and people dancing.
