These really aren't viable anymore. The window of opportunity for profit on them has past. In the late 90's til 2008-2009 they were a great for hang out joints, but now it's extremely difficult to build up a consistent clientele that will pay the amount of money for time you need to make the place pay the bills. I know this since I've been owning and running LAN centers from 98-10. Now everyone's internet connection is fast enough they don't need it and consoles are more difficult to sell on a per time basis. |

I sure hope so. Playing Street Fighter 2 was one of my fondest memories as a kid.

DURHURHUR!!! Did you bother reading the rest of my post? Arcades aren't really making money as is, that's the f***ing problem.
Charging per hour would encourage people to stay longer, and staying longer means you can charge them for shit like drinks and snickers bars, which cost the establishment pennies, but bring in dollars. As it stands now, games are so expensive (unless they have a retro section like my local one) that people don't have time to really hang out like they used to. An hourly pass might encourage more people to come and spend money on other crap. But hey, don't listen to logic and embrace progress. Do what the music industry does and fight it tooth and nail until you almost go out of business. |

In the closest movie theater to my hometown, by the ticket counter, is a small arcade.
In the closest Roller World to my hometown, there is an arcade. When I came over for Christmas, I went to both on the 28th, and played my brother in Marvel vs. Capcom 2

'arcades' have been gone for about 8 years here, but, as of a year ago there is a guy that restores and sales old arcade cabinets with working games. He's got a shop and everything... there's a Street Fighter II that's been mocking me for months.
