I started with Star Wars figures in 1977... but it wasn't until I got the AT AT and AT ST - and alot of other Empire Strikes Back stuff - that I really became a collector. I had those things set up on permanent display in my room.

I think what really started me collecting was Marvel Legends. I kind of collected earlier than that, I was really into the 90's X-Men line and did like a lot of McFarlane's stuff, but it didn't turn in to straight up collecting until Marvel Legends. Suddenly I was a completist and needed to keep some on card and was hunting down variants - that's what kicked me in gear.
Then Lord of the Rings line kicked me up into the realm of collecting not just toys but other stuff. I have different editions of books, a couple of mini-helmets, sword letter openers, toys across different scales, busts, t-shirts, hoodies etc. The only thing I didn't get in to (surprisingly) was the jewelry, but mainly because of the price. If the Ring of Barahir wasn't $129, I'd be wearing it on my hand right now. |

As an adult, Star Wars brought me back into collecting when the brand relaunched in 1995 and have been buying since. GI Joe was on and off and I was selective on figures from the relaunch after SW throught the RAH Collection, Joe vs Cobra, Valor vs Venom, Spytroops, but I lost interest in the line because of the poor quality in figures.
But the 25th line brought me back into collecting everything Joe, ROC, and POC. Now I'm deep into the MU figures as well, along with any other 1/18 scale lines I think are cool.

25th modern era Joes brought me back into the fold.
I had not bought a G.I. Joe figure since my original Sgt. Slaughter and the Triple T. Saw some of the 25th figs online. I actually resisted until 2008. Picked up the comic pack battle damage SE and SS... and that was all she wrote. Started back collecting the entire 25th ME line. Only missing a blue clear wraith and a Tiger Force Duke . *SIGH* I can't believe I am this much of a compulsive obsessive collector. Continued with ROC... Now, onto POC. Someone stop me. Please.

my brother and i had joes and x-men as kids. i kept my collection of x-men on display over the years. it wasn't until i found series 3 wolverine from the marvel legends that got me back into marvel. i would pick up the 90's x-men figs if i found them but nothing substantial until legends. i didn't start collecting joes until i bought the Cobra Air Trooper from the 25th line. i only wanted him so i could mimic the card for a project. from that point i've been buying the 25th line, roc and now poc. it seems it only takes one figure to get you back into the game.

Simon Furman's reimagining of the transformers got me back into collecting Transformers comics. This led me to a local hole in the wall toy/comic store. The owner of the shop was a hardcore transformers collector, who btw was the same guy who was the toy consultant on pawn stars when the guy was selling his TF collection, but I digress.
Anyway, we ended up talking for two hours about transformers. I told him that I had no desire to collect toys, only comics. He old me "one day you will, trust me, you don't collect toys now, but one day you will". His words were a self fulfilling profecy. When the alternators and titanium line started, I was hooked. It was then that I became a collector. Later on came Universe, Masterpiece, encore. One fateful day, I walked into Walmart looking for Transformers and saw the first wave of 25th figures on pegs. My jaw dropped, I was not in the loop and had no idea they were coming. When I saw the 25th packaging, I had to do a double take and check my watch, I thought maybe I had traveled through a wormhole back to 1984. It was then that I became a G.I. Joe collector. About the time that wave 13 was on pegs, I wanted to learn more about my comic pack black head Destro, this question led me to Hisstank. |

Star wars! I allways had joes and star wars as a kid but it wasn't until the phantom menace came out that I started to collect like crazy...of course I had a good job at the time and ever since, so I started to make the collection I always dreamed of as a kid. Now I'm just addicted. If I like it I buy it. Mainly joes now days.... but that big ass at-at might just bring me back to star wars.... either way it'll be expensive!
