Im the same way. I respect the tradition of it, it has an old fashioned honest cowboy flavor to it, but I always feel like I will offer too low and offend the guy, or offer way more than what he was expecting, LOL. I prefer just bieng given a price, or even: $15 OBO. At least then you have an idea of where to start.

I did this late last year as I hit some difficult personal issues that kind of overwhelmed my life. Not wanting to go into details but I will just say emotionally I wasn't all there.
Anyway I had a trade with a fellow tanker in limbo during that time, so to try to make it up to him I sent a crack ton of extra figures (I think about 8-10) to say "Sorry dude." |

why do you leave things on your bst when they are sold? why not just delete them. why put "sold" next to it? it just makes it harder to read doesnt it?
or why do some people put the information in posts down below like anyone can read all those posts and remember whats been sold and what is still available? i dunno...

I can't STAND it when people don't reply. I at least give a "Thanks," "No thanks," or some sort of reply just to acknowledge I got the message.
I know it's a personal choice, but I HATE when people have "sale" lists but don't list prices. To them, that might mean "I'm willing to deal" but from my experience it just means "My prices are high" and I don't usually bother. I do understand the occasional mishap with having something on the sale list that isn't available anymore. My sale pics were getting really out of date, but I just didn't have time to update them (still don't yet) so I just removed them and kept the text lists accurate. Those pictures can take a whole evening to edit properly. |

Obviously I'm not speaking about people who had other things going on in their lives. That's understandable.
With the people I dealt with it was obvious they weren't returning PMs since I would see them post or change their BST lists regularly. |

One thing I don't get about lists is why mark something as SOLD? It makes more sense to just take it off the list. If it is not in possession then why have it on a list?

For others, there's a marketing aspect. If you're listing a whole collection for example, some buyers will take the leap faster if they start seeing a lot of SOLD indicators - they get worried all the good stuff will get snatched up before they get their purchase in. Quote:
First, it's just more convenient to update the post than to try and manage a separate list somewhere. If I'm at work for example, I can't access any of my files at home, but I can access the 'Tank. Second, anyone who has a pending deal knows at a few click if I've shipped or not, etc.
