Oof! Were you using straight-up acetone to remove the paint? I'd start with rubbing alcohol first; it usually doesn't do much damage except to very soft flexy plastic. Which head was it?

So I tried customizing my first female head the other day and it was a disaster! When I was working on the eye liner I put it on thick on the left side so I tried to rework it but it was doomed. After about an hour of work I showed my wife and she went “ew, is she a prostitute”? Nope, it was Scarlett. My wife just finished painting her nails and had nail polish remover out so I figured, okay I’ll just remove the paint and start over. Well, that smeared and looked like she washed her face with dookie so I thought “I’ll toss the entire head in some solution”. Went to pour the nail polish remover and spilled it on the kitchen table we paid and arm and a leg for. Something of note, nail polish remover, removes the finish of a nice table but doesn’t remove paint off a $6 head cast. Something the remover does do to a cast is disintegrate the plastic so when I went to rinse it off, I rinsed the actual face off. It became a horror show. Here’s the worst part, it’s a cast only found from Vort and it took me 4+ months to get it. Let’s hope take 2 goes better.
If you want to remove paint use a strong rubbing alcohol, tooth brush, and warm water.

I was just getting comfortable with painting heads and this has definitely humbled me. I bought some other cast for other figures I want to work on but Scarlett may be taking a backseat for a while

Ha! That’s exactly what I did. Packed all my shit away and walked in defeat to the bed. I can’t believe how frustrating a little piece of plastic can make someone but after looking at that Weta, I can live with jacking up a head cast as long as I don’t have to deal with that nightmare.
