my other option i guess is to paint it. ivenever spraypainted anything before.
can anyone recommend the kind to buy? id like a black that would match my vintage stinger if its possible. what are the quick easysteps to painting it? what kind of primer? id prefer non toxic paints that are ok for kids to handle if thats possible. help...

Painting is the way to go with a rehab project. It just makes the vehicles look so sharp. I'm told that Krylon Fusion paint works well. Then apply a nice coat of Matte Finish. No primer needed. Michael's usually has it in stock. But when I went, they didn't. So I went to home depot where I got the Rustoleum brand of the same type stuff. Using it on my Skystrikers.

I second Fusion, available at Walmart or just about anywhere else that sells spray paint.
Yeah, nail polish remover is essentially acetone, a very big no-no to plastic. |

I have personally used Krylon Fusion and have had excellent results. One or 2 out of my three projects were done unprimed. I recommend washing the Asp in hot water and letting it dry before painting.

i read on the back of a fusion can , that it says clean with vineger, but the cans i have here in my house don't say it .. weird, but anyway, i'd clean it up with some vineger man..
let it dry, spray the paint in a sweep motion , never starting on the project, but before the project. then spray accrossed and stop spraying when you pass the project. keep the can 6 to 8 inches away, and never just sit in one spot, it will puddle up and will get runs. and make sure you shake your can, a easy way to mix paint in the can, is to hold the can by the top, and swirl it in a circular motion, rather shaking it up and down. you can shake it too, but that gets tiring. less fatigue if you hold it by the top and swirl it. kind'a hard to give tips over the computer rather than showing in person what i mean.. |

Nail polish remover is no good on plastic back in the days when I first started doing customs I ruined a pair of thighs using that stuff
it eats the plastic up and leaves an ugly finish

I always use it on my figs to get rid of paint. CVdelgado, remember to wash carefully what you're going to paint. You don't want any acetone excess (or ruined plastic) messing with the new paint.

If you plan on painting it you might want to gently sand down the area that the acetone got on.
Since it already ruined the plastic you might as well try to smooth it out a bit before you apply the paint to it.

I used alcohol to clean my plastic before painting. It seems to work pretty well.
