Agreed, stomachs are overrated, lol. What molds are they using for the then and now 2 packs? I can understand they need to make room, but it's sad, a little bit of history going away.

The GIJCC said that the factory in China needed to make space. So the made a list of all the molds that haven't been used in the last 10 years. They gave that list to the GIJCC and said "you must make some room and get rid of what you can't or won't use". The GIJCC wanted to keep them all but the factory said they couldn't. So from what the GIJCC said they got rid of about half of the molds. Also the GIJCC said that the molds were rusting from not being used and that it cost more to restore a mold then it cost to remake it.

The steel tools used to make action figures are so big and heavy, they make excellent anchors for the ships in China. So if you want to find that '83 Storm Shadow mold, I suggest you buy a diving suit. ;-)

Yeah collectors arn't aware of how burly tooling is, and how much it costs to store. Tho i understand the "nostagic value". From a real "financial value" they can't always keep them. It's really common practice with lots of companies. It's not even super old stuff allot of times as well, like allot of toy-biz marvel legends molds had to be destroyed.
If they really wanted something back they can always just make new tooling, but it cost massive amounts of money. They did this when they re-issued the orginal he-man figures awhile back. |
