Have the opportunity to get a 99% complete flagg missing only the rear fantail railing. What do you all think is a fair price to settle on? Ebay prices are always overinflated so hoping to get realistic prices from you guys.

I used to think 700 or so for a good Flagg was a fairly good deal, but that was before the crazy price increases in the last few years. Defiant used to be around 500 I think. That would be a great deal these days.

I would say that it has definitely moved well past the 1k mark, depending on condition. I got a 80% complete one 2 years ago and dropped 600ish on it and 200ish replacement parts. It’s in fantastic shape with no discoloring and excellent original stickers clearly put on by a parent, though I am still short the rail, radar tips, and the mic battery cover. I have watched for these and saw the prices go up and up, to the point I don’t think I will ever have it complete (I will probably do repros, it will look fine but I will know it’s a lie lol). I wouldn’t go lower than 1k on it if I were to sell.
At about the same time, I got a Defiant in a similar state. I am now just short an original umbilical cable and dropped 1300 or so in total value (I got it from a vintage toy store and did some trading in and work around the shop to lower the out-of-pocket). At this point I wouldn’t let it go for less than 1500. I am not sure what the trigger was, but vintage Joe has spiked sharply in the last few years. Part of me wants to blame that Netflix documentary series for igniting a wildfire of nostalgia.

I have repro radar tips available, among other parts and with more on the way. Just saying...
