I picked up most of the battleforce 2000 at Joecon this year, not because I was looking to, but because a dealer had lots of vintage figures 3/$20. At that price, I ended up getting all of the original BF2000 except Dodger. Well I just finally got dodger off ebay (with a silver padded Grand Slam and I have to say, with all of the love given retrospectively to the battle corps figures lately, the battleforce figures maybe deserved some love too.
Admittedly Avalanche and Knockdown are weak figures. Avalanche might have made for a decent figure if they didn't make the torso so round/fat. His arctic camo actually isn't too bad. Ad Knockdown has a subpar mold, poor color choices, and an awful head. Maverick is a mediocre figure with his weird "winged" armor and bright blue helmet. Again nothing great, but not a bad figure either. The last three figures though are all pretty good. I have the blocker with a visor, and that makes a big difference. A cool unique head, interesting camo, and not a bad sculpt. You could take this body and put different heads on it and you'd have a really cool urban assault team. Blaster is a little bright, but again a very good mold, complimented by the mask to his helmet. Tone down the bright green and this might have been a really popular figure. And lastly, Dodger doesn't have any if's. he is just flat out a good figure. He might not be on par with the Fallon's, tunnel rat's and outback's of 1987 but as a figure, there aren't too many others from 87 that were better. Maybe others as good, but not better. For years I had it in my head that BF2000 were awful figures with poor sculpts and color choices. But in hand, I'm actually glad to have them in my collection (although there might not be any salvaging Dee Jay when I add him) Last edited by beef664422; 01-08-2014 at 11:41 AM.. |

Its funny because I just completed my Battleforce 2000 this past week.....there is a vintage toy store near my house and he gets Joe stuff in at random times during the year.
I went in there on Sunday and traded in some Batman/JL stuff for a store credit (consolidating my collection) and snagged up the rest of BF 2000 that I didn't have. I agree.....back in the day I think they just got a bad rap because they were different..... |

I think their coloring is pretty damn ugly, but I always like figures with removable mics and helmets and so on.

Loved them in the comics. I'm a fan of the BF2000.

I liked them when they first came out and often used them as the crew of the Defiant.
Back in '87 I remember seeing an add for them in a mailer. It was the first I had heard that they were coming out. I was pretty excited, so I cut out the add and brought it to school to show a friend of mine who was into Joes. He thought the concept was so stupid that he crumbled up the add and spit on it. I remember being so shocked at his reaction because I thought they were cool. To this day they remain a very divisive subgroup for the fandom. And yeah, my friend was kind of a douche.

If you lack a ring, one is provided for you in another room, in a treasure chest filled with poisonous vipers. |

BF2000 Was my Defiant defence force, and shuttle crew. I LOVE BF2000. I thought they were great back then, and think they are even cooler now. The Maverick is a killer jet toy. I loved the rear turret. Actually...I loved all the vehicles and had them all except the pulverizer. The only thing that really sucked was the "future fortress" mode. They really had a great Idea..Almost a mesh of transformers and GIJOE. I got 3 of the vehicles for my Bday, and tried and tried to find some way they actually linked together...I just could not figure it out with 3 vehicles. Time passed, I got the other 2.. I remember when I finally got all of them and I REALLY thought that the last vehicles would somehow explain how it all snaps together...but alas..my buddy and me gave up, and were disappointed when it was just chunks of vehicles laying around . We end up just making our own "future fortress" and it worked much much better than what the designers showed in the instructions. That said, The figures were great. I didn't care for the look of knockdown much, but his removable helmet made up for a lot of that, and his gun was sweet too..I alsways looked at it as a massive FLAK pistol tied into his helmet. Aaahhhh...Good memories. Poor BF2000..what happened in the comics is laughable as Hama wanted to erase them from Joe lore.

BF2000 was ahead of their time and i like the figures and i thought their vehicles was pretty cool too and anytime Destro's IG's pinned down the Joes in battle, BF2000 was IG's equal and to the Joes rescue!

BF2k were the pilots of my Phantoms I had. I had repainted them(the phantoms) to be a bitt different. I didn't like their regular vehicles so I traded my friend the bf2k vehicles for some phantoms and viola. along with Ghost rider and his rio Updraft I had a pretty sick flight team going. I'd love to see bf2k get a re-issue being true (though ditching the pudge of knockdown and avalanche's suits) to their original designs and colors as possible.

Maverick along with Crazy Legs and Wild Bill with the Dreadnoks in Sierra Gordo in issues 69-71 was some good stuff.
Of all the BF2000 characters, Maverick got a lot more print. When all but Dodger were killed I was a little surprised... perhaps Hama knew of all the characters, kids liked his figure more than anyone else. But to have a jet taken out because it was flying low along with the others was silly. In my opinion the ground vehicles should have been destroyed with the Vector jet and Maverick being the sole survivors.
